In March 2019, AKT, the dance fitness brand created by celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser, kicked off its national tour of pop-up workouts in Atlanta. Needless to say, Anna and her signature AKT Dance class at Midtown’s Atlantic Station were a smash. And the chord she struck with ATL must have been sweet music because the studio is officially sinking some roots in 2020 — times four.
Let’s start with the facts: when it comes to fitness, Anna Kaiser is the real deal. She’s trained the likes of Shakira, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kelly Ripa. She’s also trained Atlantan Samantha Cox, co-owner of Pure Barre Westside and proud new franchisee of the first ATL AKT studio, slated to open in Inman Park February/March 2020.
Anna—and now Samantha—know how to break a sweat and bust a move, all while channeling fun party vibes with loud music and a whole lot of energy. And that’s exactly what you can expect in an AKT class. The workout is designed to work the entire body in a fun and efficient way.
Not a dancer? No worries. All are welcome — no prior experience is needed. You’ll learn as you go, and modifications are offered for any level of athlete. Just be ready to work hard and have fun. The only requirement is an open mind.
But it’s more than just dance. AKT is all about the well-rounded body. After all, you need some serious glute strength to drop it low. That’s why they go beyond the dance beats with a lineup of classes meant to strengthen, stretch, and tone. Their series of HIIT classes use weights and resistance bands to balance and burn. And with the music, the programming, the infectious vibe — we promise you won’t be bored.
According to a spokesperson from AKT, three additional studios are locked in for the Atlanta market: “the 2nd location will be in Sandy Springs Mar/April 2020, the 3rd in Buckhead in mid-2020, and the 4th [Brookhaven] location in 2021.”
