You know Golda Kombucha around town as Atlanta’s first kombucha company. It was founded by Melanie Wade, who spread the good (fermented) stuff throughout the Southeast to mass delight. And now, you can get it by the growler in Atlanta’s West End because Golda Kombucha officially has its very own brick-and-mortar taproom.

GO WITH YOUR GUT

Kombucha is an age-old probiotic drink much-loved for being packed with gut-friendly vitamins and cultures. You may have seen it assigned to a single, lonely tap at your local growler shop, but at Cultured South, it takes over all 10.

Cultured South is Atlanta’s answer to all things fermented in this world: a taproom/marketplace/brewery dedicated to a good gut feeling. They rotate 20 kombucha flavors on tap and frequently feature Golda Kombucha’s most famous sips: peach ginger, lavender lemonade, elderberry thyme, strawberry mint, blackberry basil, and hibiscus blood orange. Try them all by the pint, in a flight, or in a gelato float. Yum!

Alongside kombucha, they offer kefir water—another kind of probiotic super beverage—and jun tea, a fermented drink made with green tea and honey, among other products like drinking vinegars and cold brew coffee.

They also sell and serve all sorts of local bites, like Pure Abundance vegan cheeses and pickles from next-door neighbor Doux South Pickles. So, you get to pair your drink of choice with vegan cashew cheese and plenty of other fermented goodies.

FERMENT AND REPRESENT

Cultured South’s taproom overlooking the Atlanta Beltline Westside Trail opened its doors on May 20, 2018. And naturally, the grand opening took place during the second annual Atlanta Fermentation Fest, an event founded and hosted by Golda Kombucha. Local vendors and chefs showed up to show off and educate about all things fermented — but there’s still a lot to learn from them.

Cultured South plans to be a community gathering ground for not only knocking back a few kombucha brews but also taking brewery tours, joining kombucha-making classes, and practicing yoga. We’ve got a feeling this is about to be your new favorite place to hang with your crew.
