What’s better than free yoga? We’ll answer for you: free yoga followed by a well-deserved, ice-cold gourmet popsicle, that’s what. Once a week—every spring, summer, and fall—King of Pops hosts free, outdoor yoga in the park for all of Atlanta to get down(ward dog) with.

SOUTHERN SUN SALUTATIONS

Yoga in the Park with King of Pops is a summertime staple in Atlanta. What began as a casual meet-up for popsicle-loving employees blossomed into a city-wide sensation, often attracting nearly 1,000 yogis to the field.

Every Sunday (starting April 7, 2019 and culminating October 27), the field at the Historic Fourth Ward Park fills up with hundreds of yoga mats, ready to get their chaturanga up to speed.

The class—taught Siha Collins, the owner and founder of Yellow Mat Yoga—informally starts at 6:30pm, when the field starts to fill up and you can mingle with fellow yogis. At 7pm, the flow officially starts and goes for one exhilarating hour. Something to know before you go: yoga in the park is, unsurprisingly, reliant on clear weather. If rain is on the radar, check the KOP Facebook Page to know if yoga is canceled for the night.

Fitt Tip: they’ve also rebooted their Tuesday night run club, meeting by the King of Pops Window on Elizabeth St. in Inman Park at 6:30pm on Tuesdays.

POP SENSATION

When the class finishes, don’t head home without indulging in one of the King’s ah-mazing gourmet popsicles. They’re inspired by the paleta — a frozen treat popular in Latin America made with fresh fruit mixed with unconventional flavor combinations. And the best news is that all of KOP's ingredients are sourced from farms across the Southeast, including local Atlanta farms. Their dairy is sourced from Working Cows Dairy, an organic dairy farm in Slocomb, Alabama.

They have a fun and quirky selection of both creamy and fruity popsicles, sporting flavors like cookies n cream, blackberry ginger, and strawberry lemonade. (Keep an eye out for seasonal flavors like summer’s watermelon mojito and iced coffee, too). Cool down after class with your favorite flavor and a sunset walk around the park!
