We all have those days (or weeks) when life just seems to be throwing non-stop curveballs. Stress builds and when pent up, you can get into a funk. But sitting in the corner pouting and punching the air is not our recommended course of action.
In our opinion, a much more effective route is taking all of those bad vibes and releasing them with something equally calorie-blasting and endorphin-exciting. Lucky for Atlanta, one of the newest studios to hit the city offers the perfect way for you to square up to those punches life is throwing your way. Meet your new favorite workout and therapy session, Pepper Boxing.
Pepper Boxing (which is an acronym for Practical Exercise Personally Planned Equals Results) originated in Nashville and has amassed a loyal following for all the right reasons. The new studio at The Battery that opened June 15, 2019 is Pepper’s first expansion, and with only a couple of weeks under their belt, this high-intensity workout is making itself known in a city that already boasts a few favorites to step into the ring.
One of the studio’s most distinctive qualities, however, is that it’s the only circular heavy bag layout in the world, and founder Alexander Kaufman (aka Pepper) specifically designed it this way so clients can always have eyes on their instructor, with plenty of room to go all out on that bag without having to worry about knocking your neighbor. And speaking of instructors, this crew of fearless leaders has had ample training, ensuring they not only deliver an awesome experience but demonstrate how to execute those punch sequences with flawless form.
Each non-contact, full-body, 50-minute class is broken into three rounds — two rounds of boxing on the heavy tear-drop punching bags for heart-pumping cardio sandwiched between strength training intervals, which utilizes the weighted bar for muscle-burning upper- and lower-body exercises.
The effect in their beats-bumpin’, dimly-lit studio is a physical and mental boost, achieving endurance, improving coordination, torching calories, and seriously lowering that stress level.
Alexander and the Pepper Boxing team pride themselves on not only delivering a kickass workout but on their genuine desire to build a supportive community and culture, all while keeping it authentic. That means allowing you to completely immerse yourself into each jab, each uppercut, each lunge, and bring out that inner beast mode, no matter where you are as an athlete.
Pepper Boxing ATL offers a variety of classes daily—whether it be their Rise and Grind or Lunch and Punch—at their boutique studio just steps from SunTrust Park. Come see what the hype is about for yourself. Fitt Tip: gloves and wraps are always provided and memberships include access to their weight room if you are looking to blow off steam pumping a little extra iron.
