Pepper Boxing (which is an acronym for Practical Exercise Personally Planned Equals Results) originated in Nashville and has amassed a loyal following for all the right reasons. The new studio at The Battery that opened June 15, 2019 is Pepper’s first expansion, and with only a couple of weeks under their belt, this high-intensity workout is making itself known in a city that already boasts a few favorites to step into the ring.
One of the studio’s most distinctive qualities, however, is that it’s the only circular heavy bag layout in the world, and founder Alexander Kaufman (aka Pepper) specifically designed it this way so clients can always have eyes on their instructor, with plenty of room to go all out on that bag without having to worry about knocking your neighbor. And speaking of instructors, this crew of fearless leaders has had ample training, ensuring they not only deliver an awesome experience but demonstrate how to execute those punch sequences with flawless form.
Each non-contact, full-body, 50-minute class is broken into three rounds — two rounds of boxing on the heavy tear-drop punching bags for heart-pumping cardio sandwiched between strength training intervals, which utilizes the weighted bar for muscle-burning upper- and lower-body exercises.
The effect in their beats-bumpin’, dimly-lit studio is a physical and mental boost, achieving endurance, improving coordination, torching calories, and seriously lowering that stress level.
