UPDATED JUL 14, 2020

It’s a weekend morning and a Baltimore brunch is slated to be a mimosa-filled match made in heaven. Ready to dive into a plate of farm fresh omelets and vegan French toast? We’ve rounded up a list of the top healthy brunch spots in the city.

Seeking more options for your brunch than a one-stop-shop can deliver? On the weekends, R. House becomes BRUNCH HOUSE, and you won't want to miss it. This Remington food hall offers different mouth-watering brunch items at each stall, bringing you a variety of options for the whole crew (including a stall totally dedicated to breakfast sammies). And don’t forget to get the bottomless drink hook up at!

Be sure to make a reservation before heading to Woodberry Kitchen’s rustic patio for brunch – it’s no secret that it’s the place to go. The pride and joy of Hampden’s hipsters, Woodberry has a unique and ever-changing seafood-infused brunch menu sourced straight from the Chesapeake. We recommend trying the veggie flatbread after your order of Chesapeake oysters. Add a French press coffee, chai tea, or daytime cocktail to round out your meal.

Extra trendy and extra tasty. That’s Red Emma’s of Hampden in a nutshell. This place is a radical bookstore, 100% vegetarian restaurant, coffee roaster, and public events space wrapped into one. But on weekends, it becomes a great spot to get down with your chill, healthy brunch vibes. Your toughest decision will be choosing between something savory, like the tofu scramble or vegan quiche, or the plant-based lemon blueberry pancakes for a sweeter treat from the long list of options on their exclusive weekend brunch menu.

Here’s a curveball for you — this funky roadhouse in Hampden serves vegan Americana and Southwest comfort food options. They're unusual combos to be found in the same café, but that doesn’t make Golden West Café any less delicious. Serving brunch all day on weekends, GWC has your guilt-free choices like vegan French toast, vegan burritos, and breakfast polenta. You can’t go wrong with anything at this New Mexican-inspired eatery.

Calling all vegetarians and vegans craving some meat-free soul food! Mount Vernon has your new favorite brunch at The Land of Kush. They’re drawing veg heads from all over the city with their signature $10 Sunday brunch consisting of gluten-free fruit-filled pancakes, veggie scramble, potatoes and/or veggie sausage. Want to splurge a bit more? Try some of their vegan Baked Mac & Cheese. We’re hungry just thinking about it.

With "sweet" in the name, it might be hard to believe this place made our healthy brunch list. But hear us out because this isn’t your typical brunch spot. For a 100% gluten-free cafe brunch without sacrificing any taste, you'll want to make your way over to Sweet27 in Charles Village. Here, you can order eccentric, globally-inspired dishes, like the ginger tofu or vada pao burger. Craving something a little more basic? Grab the fish tacos or pesto veggie pizza. End your meal on a sweet note with a couple of vegan treats from the bakery. You won't regret it.

Lock in your reservation now to guarantee your seat at this waterfront restaurant featuring an extensive healthy brunch. You can make a day of it and wander through the Baltimore Museum of Art before indulging in brunch on the balcony at Gertrude's. Good luck nailing down your entree, though — with choices like the Veggie-Fu Scramble and crabmeat or veggie omelet, it’s hard to land on just one.

In Charles Village, this laid-back locale keeps us on our toes with their rotating brunch menu. But you can look for the likes of Churro French Toast (one of our favorite cheat day meals) or the vegan breakfast tostada with scrambled tofu, fresh guac, and grilled veggies. Try to nab an outdoor table when the weather is decent for a true sun’s out, (burger) buns out brunch.

This North Baltimore spot only has brunch on Saturdays, but believe us when we say that it’s worth it. There are fresh juices, smoothies, and a simple menu of breakfast comforts that lean on the healthy side. Sneak in a little bit of veggies with your stacks and try the Butternut Squash Pancakes, topped with apple butter, Crème fraîche, and a pecan crumble, or devour the spicy sauce and runny eggs of the Shakshuka with house pita. Though, if you’re really trying to keep things clean, don’t worry; they’ve got a tasty turmeric quinoa bowl waiting for you. (And whatever you do, don’t leave without checking out the pastry counter!)

Whether you’re ready to dig in or keep it light, you’ll find something tasty at The Food Market (a former grocery store). Because as many indulgent, syrup-y, bacon-y classics are served up here, there are good-for-you dishes too. Try Chad’s Red Quinoa Oatmeal with fresh cream and berries or the Market Fit-tata made with spinach egg white, charred vegetables, avocado, and cilantro. And because it’s Bmore, you can always find a bit of seafood at brunch, like the Shrimp & Grits made with cajun thyme cream, cheddar grits, and andouille chips. Bonus: they serve brunch on Fridays, in addition to Saturday and Sunday, 9am–3pm.
