Two key ingredients make up the best CrossFit gyms: 1.) killer fast-paced WODs (workout of the day) focused on pushing your strength to the next level, and 2.) a tight-knit community to lift you back up when that WOD knocks you down.
Well, get ready to burpee, snatch, and push jerk your heart out — we’ve rounded up the go-to CrossFit boxes in Baltimore.
You may know these guys as CrossFit Federal Hill (with a whopping 10,000-square-foot gym) and CrossFit Harbor East (with their top-notch ratings). Well, the two powerhouses combined forces to create Industry Athletics and serve you their best workouts yet. If you’re looking for a down and dirty WOD, head over to either location and grab a barbell. With wide-open areas perfect for throwing up that PR snatch and a motivating crew of coaches and fellow CrossFitters, Industry Athletics is top of the list in the city. Trust us, they’ve got the ratings to prove it.
Charm City CrossFit is at the center of the Mt. Vernon fitness scene. Its WODs are top-notch and with personal training and yoga classes, you’ll be happy you stopped in for a sweat session. But be ready: their instructors will take you through their high-intensity, full-body, strength-based workout in circuits. Fitt Tip: book a one-on-one training session if you’re new to WODlife.
The secret sauce to 410 CrossFit’s workout? Variety and coaching. You’ll have choices galore with their class schedule, including their signature 30-minute workout. Plus, their coaches automatically team up with new members to show them the ropes and keep them motivated. So, if you’re looking for that extra plateau-squashing push, head on over to their Hampden box.
To sum it up, PUSH511 serves up some hardcore WODs alongside a good-vibes-only community. They’re all about helping you be the best person you can be in mind and body. And they do this through some serious circuit training. Work especially hard and you might even see yourself featured as Member in the Month in their blog — well-deserved kudos for being a great part of the PUSH511 fam. Head over to Canton to see what they’re all about.
Two fitness-loving, Baltimore native bros kicked off CrossFit Baltimore in 2014 after a couple years of operating out of their garage. And these dudes like to focus on making sure their members set clear and defined goals, then conquer them. When it’s warm, you’ll see the CrossFit Baltimore crew grinding outside, pushing their sleds and swinging their kettlebells. A bit of a drive for the downtown folks, it’s worth heading up to Northeast Baltimore to give it a go.
If you’re looking for the support to take your lifts to the next level, look no further. Nevermore CrossFit in Northwest Bmore puts its peeps first with coaches that promise to really get to know you and your goals. They’re committed to helping you ditch those boundaries that have been holding you back from achieving new levels of awesome. Looking to improve the specifics? Throughout the year, they run specialty programs to include “Barbell Betty”, Weightlifting, gymnastics, running, and kettlebell courses. After your workout grind, check out their amenities — showers and a locker room with a steam room and sauna.
More results, less time. CrossFit Towson knows that during the week, you’re running around like a chicken with its head cut off. So they understand you don’t have hours on end to fit in your workouts. That’s why their coaches are here to deliver some serious WODs and help you work harder and smarter (and get in and out and on with your day). And they’ve got ALL the high-fives waiting for you after you hit that lift.
“Eat. Train. Recover & Heal. Be Well.” That’s the SEYA way. Just east of Patterson Park in Highlandtown, SEYA CrossFit & Wellness Center is teaching their members a top-to-bottom fitness approach: you’ll clean and press the big plates and you’ll also recover properly afterward. They focus on wellness and good health for the mind, body, and soul, and their offerings include CrossFit (of course), yoga, and components of sports massages, physical therapy, acupuncture, and dry needling. As if that wasn’t enough — they have a built-in fresh coffee bar. Sign. us. up.
Need an extra push to reach your fitness goals? Clipper City Crossfit wants to help you get there. They believe in taking care of your whole person — that means personalized attention to get you where you want to be. Check out their killer group WODs during the week and then take it at your own pace in their open gym on Sundays.
