Brooklyn Boulders is no stranger to community. Their climbing gyms in New York City, Boston, and Chicago host taco socials, monthly members mixers, and tons of epic climbing and fitness challenges. They’ll invite you to extra instruction at workshops, help you with your knots, and even shut down an entire street in the name of getting everybody in on the world of climbing.
BKB creates an atmosphere as supportive and close as your climbing harness. And that’s precisely the motivation behind Out to Climb, Brooklyn Boulders’ PRIDE Month extravaganza with festivities celebrating their proud LGBTQIA+ community.
The Somerville-based event promises to be everything you would expect. On June 20, get ready for climbing, of course, but also a bar hosted by Deep Eddy Vodka and Sparkling Ice, a special (and surely-colorful) benefit bag sale from Cotopaxi, and a very strong possibility of drag competitions.
Though, if you’re not in the mood to climb, there’s still plenty of fun to be had — you’ll get the chance to join in on the party. Starting at 6pm, you’ll find yourself immersed in a staff drag show and treated to an incredible queer cabaret, Queerlesque. You’ll definitely be feeling the #BKBlove.
Outward and Upward
No matter who you are, what you do, or who you love, climbing is a way to bring us all together. And really, there’s no better way to lift each other up than by getting fit and fierce with a community that loves you back.
