We get it — you’re busy. Once you wrap up a workout, you’re usually sprinting (sometimes literally) off to something way more important, meaning making time for recovery is not on the agenda. We’re all guilty of skimping on a post-sweat stretch session. But what if you could take a class, walk next door, and have someone do the stretching for you?
Say hello to Club Pilates and StretchLab, two California-based fitness concepts set to open at the newly-reconstructed Strawberry Hill Shopping Center in South Charlotte. Joining Nékter Juice Bar and healthy grocer The Fresh Market, this development is really shaping up.
Perhaps the most exciting addition is Club Pilates. There’s a reason the studios are popping up all over the country. They’ve created a full-body experience by incorporating resistance training, barre, and all of your favorite pieces of muscle-building equipment (think BOSU ball, EXO Chair, mats, rollers) into each workout.
New to Pilates? Don’t sweat it. Club Pilates offers classes based on experience, so each workout is customized to your level. They also offer one-on-one training if you’re not looking for a group session.
It’s all about challenging your mind and your muscles, so sign up for a class once they open in April 2019 to practice mindfulness after a hectic day at work or to increase your strength and flexibility — you’ll need it to help you carry around the totes of produce from The Fresh Market, which opened in October 2018 at Strawberry Hill.
And speaking of flexibility, you’ll get a double dose of it once you wrap up your session at Club Pilates and make your way over to StretchLab. This is the first North Carolina location for the boutique assisted stretching franchise, and it’s set to open another studio in Dilworth later in summer 2019.
But when it comes to just how you give your muscles the recovery they need, you’ve got options: StretchLab offers group stretching with a Flexologist (think personal stretching trainer) that will lead you through customized movements utilizing foam rollers and yoga straps. Need a more personal stretch? Book a one-on-one class to get you ready for your next race, to release that built-up tension after a long day at work, or to recovery for a particularly intense workout.
After limbering up, you’ll want to explore more of the development’s shops. Make your way over to MOD Pizza for a custom salad or gluten-free ’za and wash it down with a cold-pressed juice blend from Nékter.
With all of these nutritious options readily available to you, there’s a good chance Strawberry Hill becomes your new health and fitness destination. Expect many of these health-minded tenants to be up and running by summer 2019.
