Charlotte is growing so fast, it’s hard to keep up with all the new places to try. While you’ve been busy holiday shopping, we’ve been searching for all the best new workout spots and healthy restaurants. Keep reading to find the hottest places you need to know about to kick off the new year.

Love the feeling of crushing a 5k with all your friends? That’s the kind of energy you’ll find every day at tread HAPPY, a new fitness studio in South End that opened in October. The six types of classes are all centered around running and will help you get fitter, stronger, and happier. It might be cold and dark outside right now, but you can still get your best running in at Tread HAPPY.

Get ready to pulse. barre3 is opening in Reafield shopping center in early 2019, and that’s a big deal considering that, up to this point, the closest studio was in Fort Mill. If you’re unfamiliar, barre3 may look easy at first, but you’d be wrong — the workout will definitely leave you feeling sore all over the next day. Want a taste of what’s to come to South Charlotte? They’re hosting free pop-up classes leading up to the grand opening, so follow along on their Eventbrite page for all the latest details.

Love HIIT workouts and circuit training? Say hello to F45. This studio already has a serious following, and for a good reason. People can’t get enough of this super-effective, 45-minute functional (that’s the F in their name) circuit workout. With its grand opening in South End on January 12, now is the time to get your sweat on.

RockBox Fitness is coming soon to Ballantyne, adding yet another sister studio to their boutique boxing franchise family. You’ll hook, jab, and uppercut your way through each class — you might also be lifting, running, or hitting a truck tire with a sledgehammer. And don’t worry if you’re new to kickboxing — they teach you everything you need to know before you jump in. This high-energy workout will leave you feeling like you can conquer the world; expect it in the Reafield development early 2019.

Namastay, yogis. CorePower Yoga is officially opening in Midtown January 7. The nationwide, athletic-style yoga powerhouse has a variety of yoga classes from beginner Vinyasa flows to advanced hot yoga. Already a seasoned yogi? Try their Yoga Sculpt classes, which take things to the next level by adding in free weights. If you’re new to CorePower, you can get your first week of unlimited classes for free. Sign us up!

CAVA is one of the newest spots in Park Road Shopping Center. This Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant was created by three childhood friends who wanted to share their joy of Greek food with everyone. And the result is on their menu — swing by and create your own delicious grain bowls, salads, and pitas. Simply choose your protein and veggies, then drizzle on your favorite dressings like Lemon Herb Tahini or Sriracha Greek Yogurt. YUM.

The team behind the Charlotte staple Ilios Noche is bringing us a new fast-casual restaurant. Ilios Crafted Greek is opening soon in South End, a proposed December opening. You’ll still find their traditional Mediterranean food like roasted chicken and lamb with lots of lemon and olive oil. And of course, their signature spinach pie. This time it will just be a little more casual, making it a perfect fit in the South End neighborhood.

Charlotte just can’t get enough hummus and falafel. Yafo Kitchen is now open in Kenilworth Commons, making that its third spot in the Queen City. Their honest and authentic approach to Mediterranean food has proven to be a hit. Maybe it’s the delicious pita bread, maybe it’s the shawarma spiced chicken, but whatever it is, we’re always coming back for more.

The owner of Queens Coffee Bar noticed there was a lack of coffee shops in the Belmont area — so she did something about it: Queens had a soft opening in November. They’re still making tweaks to the menu but right now, you can get pour-over Farmers First coffee and UpDog Kombucha on tap. Sounds like they’re off to a great start.
