Forget cheeseburgers in paradise — for gluten-free and veggie-loving diners in Wicker Park, it’s all about pizza in paradise. Paradise Park, that is!
The newest venture from co-owners Clay Hamilton and Josh Lachelli, aka the masterminds behind Homeslice and Happy Camper, arrived in August, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
Here, you can chillax in a quaint, garden-like patio space complete with visible TVs, drinks, and a smorgasbord of calzones, apps, and, of course, ’za — all with a health-conscious twist.
Celiac sensitivities are no problem at this neighborhood watering hole, where every single one of the 30 pizzas on the menu can be ordered with a regular, whole wheat (small or medium), or gluten-free crust (size small only).
Prior to the main course, you’ll have plenty to split app-wise, too — gluten-free guests can indulge in bean dip, potato skins, chips and guac, chips and salsa, or Jalapeño Homies (read: jalapeños with cream cheese, bacon, cheddar, tomato, parsley, and a side of BBQ).
While meat-eaters will find plenty to satiate their appetite here in the form of your usual pizza-topping suspects (think pepperoni and Italian sausage), there’s also an entire section dedicated to the herbivores among us. No less than 10 pizzas come heaped with all the veggies you can handle, from the Hughes Delight—a healthy blend of broccoli, roma tomatoes, green peppers, roasted garlic, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, feta, and marinara—to the Miller White in all its sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, feta, garlic, and olive oil glory.
And that’s not all! Additional vegetarian options come in the form of the veggie calzone (mozzarella, provolone, mushrooms, black olives, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, and marinara), the hummus plate, and several salad options to boot.
Take our advice and hit up this hot spot sooner rather than later — with such wide menu appeal, it’s sure to be packed to the gills before you can even open up and say ‘za. Fitt Tip: just so you know, they’re open until 3am on Saturdays… late-night healthyish pizza, no questions asked.
