Gone are the days of waiting for Memorial Day weekend to officially kick off the summer. Because thanks to Shore Club (you know, that restaurant along North Avenue Beach that makes you feel like you’re at a resort instead of next to Lake Shore Drive), you’re going to want to feel the sand between your toes earlier than usual this year.
But first, you might want to bring your gym shoes (and probably a yoga mat).
The seasonal concept Shore Club opens its doors (and spacious lakefront patios) each May to hungry brunch-eaters, thirsty beach-goers, and fitness gurus alike. That’s right — the Patio, Restaurant, and Oasis are the three spaces that make up the Shore Club and each of them are bringing something new to the beach every spring and summer.
Let’s start with “the Patio”, and not just because of how its local art exhibitions might be first to catch your eye, but also because it’s about to start catering to your morning routine (starting as early as 7:30am). Fresh coffee, breakfast, and a cold-pressed juice bar are among the offerings that this space provides, which makes it one of our favorite places to cool down after a great workout.
Speaking of workouts, you no longer have to worry about getting one in before hitting the beach. Shore Club has partnered with Equinox fitness clubs (of Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, and the Loop) to bring your favorite group fitness classes to the Oasis at Shore Club on summer mornings, twice a week. Usually, this cabana-lined area is only open to those with reservations, so it doesn’t get any more VIP than working out in such an exclusive, beachfront spot. All you have to do is register for each class here.
In addition to the Patio serving up fresh bites and drinks, so will the Restaurant. With new items on the food menu and more beach-themed frozen cocktails, be prepared to make a day out of it after your workout.
One of Shore Club’s best features is how convenient it is to access once you’re on the Lakefront Path in Lincoln Park. Only footsteps away from the beach and adjacent to bicycle, kayak, and SUP rentals, it’s easy to stay as active as possible, even after a morning workout with Equinox. Shore Club takes away the stress of having to worry about packing healthy meals for a day at the beach because now it provides them for you.
And, of course, it’s always a bonus when frosé really can happen all day.
