Given the choice of an exhilarating workout with all your friends and spending the day exploring your city, which would you choose? Tough, right?
On any normal day, you’d have to pick one or the other. On a day where CitySTRONG is taking over your city, you get one scenic sweat.
Each month, this traveling workout brings a new city to life in the coolest outdoor venues like Bicentennial Park in Nashville and Embarcadero Marina Park South in San Diego, and indoor gems like the Brooklyn Expo Center and Dallas’ Bomb Factory. Next stop? The echoey, industrial SoWa Power Station. Yup — CitySTRONGxBoston is going down May 13.
All anyone needs is a yoga mat and your own body to join in on these high-fun, high-intensity fitness blowouts. The keyword there is anyone — they’ve had exercisers “as young as 18 and old as 72 come to train with [them].”
Co-founders and workout buddies Erin Oprea and Shawn Booth had a revelation while riding bikes in Nashville. They wanted to sweat it out with all of America, and now they do (oh yeah, they go IN on the full workout with you). See, CitySTRONG’s instructors just don’t quit, and their energy is contagious. When they take the stage and start the workout, you get a shot in the arm and a kick in the pants.
It helps that everyone’s in it together. When you burpee, they burpee. When Erin and Shawn hit the deck for a plank, you’re prone and proud. When they take a dance break, you drop that ass to the dirt.

When he’s not wooing Kaitlyn and collecting rose boutonnieres like it’s his job, he’s doing his actual job, whipping America into shape one heart-thumping (because exercise, not him) workout at a time. It’s probably just an added perk that CitySTRONG’s traveling DJ is, in fact, Kaitlyn Bristowe.
We had a chance to ask some very important questions with the two star trainers:
Q: What’s your goal for CitySTRONG? What’s next?
Erin and Shawn: Workout with as many people as possible! Our favorite part is definitely getting to meet those who show up and hearing everyone’s story. We want to continue traveling all over the country and also head up north to Canada soon!
Q: Avocado toast or French toast?
S: I’m more of an almond butter, banana, and Ezekiel toast guy.
E: I’m definitely an avocado toast girl, but add an egg, please!
Q: If you could only do one exercise…forever…what would it be?
S: I’d probably go with a burpee. Not the most exciting exercise, but definitely one of the most effective!
E: I’d say hill sprints. They work your whole body.
Q: What’s your favorite cheat food?
S: Definitely pepperoni pizza. I can easily eat an entire large in one sitting.
E: I’m totally with Shawn on this. My husband and I order two large just for the two of us so we can each have our own.
Q: Is a hot dog a sandwich?
S: Not a chance.
E: HAHA! Yes, it has two sides of bread!
