Now that we have achieved full-on fitness mania in Cleveland, the dilemma has changed from ‘where to work out’ to ‘at which to work out’ It’s a good thing, we swear.
But what if you didn’t need four walls to define your workout? What if all you had was the great outdoors, some hiking boots, and a yoga mat?
Is anyone going to say no to exploring beautiful areas of Cleveland while getting in shape doing it? That’s where Hikyoga wants to lead you — it’s the ultimate hiking + yoga experience, with classes growing in the US, including our very own Cleveland.
Each class (if we can even call it a class) begins at local favorite watering holes, hangout, or green space every month. Whether you’re meeting at a local brewery or one of the Metroparks, it beats the stuffy gym any day.
It can be intimidating to hit the trails if you’ve never been on them before — getting lost is always better with friends. That’s why instructors Natalie Ault and Becky Verner stepped up. With those two leading the pack, you’ll wonder why you haven’t gotten out sooner.
Depending on the event, once hikyogis meet at the selected starting point, the instructor will teach an invigorating yoga class to get everyone’s hearts and minds open, and body warmed up for the hike. And who knows — you may even have to stop and drop into your favorite pose along the way. (That’s foreshadowing, y’all. Spontaneous yoga poses while hiking will most likely occur.)
Classes are always posted on Hikyoga Cleveland’s Facebook page, with new events added four to five times a month. Bring a mat, some water, shoes to hike in, and meet some adventure/yoga enthusiasts along the way!
Fitt Tip: if you need more incentive, classes meeting at local breweries even end with a free glass of wine or beer of your choice!
