With a name like Bang Up To The Elephant!, you know you’re probably going to a place that isn’t like the others — and you’d be right. This quirky calypso restaurant is known for doing things a little differently and for their clean, fresh eats full of Caribbean heat. And their menu — well, it just got even more diverse because all of the doughnuts they’re serving are now 100% vegan!
Seriously. Bang Up To The Elephant tested the vegan doughnut waters with the introduction of their Dirty Banana Doughnut Ballz. They were a huge hit (how could they not be?) and since demand for plant-based choices was undeniable in the first few months of Bang Up’s life, owner Kevin Delk was inspired to go all in. And as a result, the restaurant recently announced that all doughnuts on the menu will be free from animal products of any kind.
There’s a lot to like about Bang Up To The Elephant, namely, their flavor-packed menu infused with all the beachy vibes. And while the rest of the menu isn’t entirely vegan, it’s loaded with only the best (and pronounceable) ingredients.
Outside of their doughnuts, they’ve got some crazy creative vegan picks, too, like the Scotch Bonnet Tamarind Seitan Wings. Plus, they maximize every animal-free opportunity by calling out menu items that can be modified to be vegan.
But you don’t have to be vegan to love the crap out of this place. They even have a glossary on the menu for those illiterate in vegan (you know, in case you’re wondering WTF is jackfruit). So head to Cap Hill to get educated about the plant-based space in the best way possible — with doughnuts.
