When it comes to working up a sweat in the great outdoors, we’re pretty spoiled in Colorado. With 300 days of sun and a huge outdoor playground just west of Denver, the opportunities are endless no matter the season.
But you don’t even have to head for the mountains to burn up those legs and lungs. In fact, there’s one iconic spot that has become as much a favorite for fitness during the day as it is for music at night. Yes, we’re talking about Red Rocks.
The venue has seen wildly popular yoga and barre sessions, as well as a whole lot of bootcamps. And this fall, it’ll be home to a brand new series focused on conditioning for the upcoming ski and board season.
The series will be led by Fitness in the City and will focus specifically on getting your body primed for winter snow sports. FITC is well-known in Five Points and the Golden Triangle for their Power Hour, a total-body strength training and conditioning class using barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells — you name it.
The workouts at Red Rocks will be circuit-based, and instead of lugging barbells, you better believe they’ll be making good use of those 300+ steps to get your quads and glutes in gear. Expect some other fun, too. They’re teasing celebrity appearances and post-sweat socializing.
There will be four weekly sessions from September 21 through October 12. The hour-long workouts will start at 8am, leaving you plenty of time to spend the rest of your Saturday in après mode.
So, get signed up, prepare to get sore, and get that bod in snowshape. Because when the snow starts to fall and the first chairlifts start to turn, we know you want to be ready to shred.
