Ever since marijuana was legalized in 2014, Colorado quickly earned national attention. The Mile High nickname took on new meaning as national media poked fun and a new crowd of tourists flooded in. And now, five years later, as more states have followed suit and the novelty has started to wane, a new trend has taken over, and it crosses into the wellness space. We’re talking about CBD oil.
Cannabidiol—or CBD—won’t get you high (it’s extracted from the flowers and buds of marijuana or hemp plants, containing no THC) but is often advertised as ailment for a host of conditions. Whether or not it will cure your ills—or is inherently healthy—is up for debate. But you might not have noticed just how many local healthy hot spots are incorporating CBD into their menus. We’ve got a solid lineup of choices when it comes to getting an infused superfood fix, and it seems your options are only expanding, with more places joining the party faster than you can try them.
CBD has become as commonplace as turmeric and bee pollen as an add-in for juices and smoothies. Easily blended and paired with all sorts of concoctions, whether you want to boost your smoothie or enhance your coffee, it’s a natural extension for the Denver bev scene.
The latest Fitt friend to join the healthy CBD scene is LoHi’s Just BE Kitchen. Just when you thought their menu couldn’t get any cooler, you can now add CBD to any coffee, cocktail, kombucha, or other menu item for just $2. Keep an eye out for special and seasonal CBD-focused creations too, like their CBD cinnamon honey latte.
You can also amp up your superfood smoothie, bowl, or juice at Whole Sol Blend Bar at Union Station, Wonder Press at Broadway Market, or Clean Juice in Cherry Creek. Need a protein hit? Add CBD to a protein smoothie at one of Protein Bar's three locations spread throughout downtown. For a bubbly boost, try the CBD-infused kombucha (yes, really) at Carbon on Platte.
If you’re looking for a beverage with a little buzz, stop by Drip in Cap Hill for a cup of local Strava CBD coffee or Blue Sparrow in RiNo for CBD Nitro cold brew on tap. And if you favor leaves over beans, get to The Corner Beet to wash down your avo toast and Super Seed salad with a cup of CBD tea.
So, whether you’re sold on CBD or still skeptical, Just BE and a host of other local spots are ready to convince you that their deliciously-infused healthy bites and sips are the perfect way to partake.
