But when you’ve got workout buddies waiting for you, it’s a lot harder to skip your sweat session. That’s where November Project Denver comes in.
Despite its name, November Project operates year-round. This free fitness movement started in Boston when two friends challenged each other to workout every day in November. That was years ago, and there are now November Projects in over 40 cities, including Denver!
Each city’s November Project has a unique flavor and Denver’s is no different. The group’s name plays on the city’s steep elevation, calling itself the Denver “5280” (Mile High) tribe. But one thing’s the same across all November Project locations: everyone, no matter your fitness level, is welcome at the workouts. Sounds like our kind of crew.
November Project Denver hosts workouts two days a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays in two sessions, from 5:30-6:15am and from 6:15-7am. With two times to choose from, there’s no excuse for not getting your sweat on before you head to work.
The Wednesday workouts rotate between the Civic Center Amphitheater and Capitol Building stairs. So expect to race circuits of sprints, stair climbs, and to perform plyometrics, all before breakfast. On Fridays, the workouts are held at different parks in Denver (check the group’s social media for the latest locale) and are tailored to wherever the project meets that week.
No matter which workout you attend, you can be assured that you’ll be feeling the burn. Two of the four leaders of November Project Denver hail from Boston, so they’ve been initiated right at the source.
With no sign-ups or fees, you’ll be disappointed in yourself if you don’t get out there and join the next November Project Denver workout. Just look for the people running stairs at the Capitol Building at dawn and you’ll know you’ve found your tribe.
