Most of us can agree that there’s nothing quite like waking up to the sweet smell of right-out-of-the-oven cinnamon rolls wafting through the house on a Saturday morning. But if you’re vegan or dairy-free, you’re likely left with a sad circumstance: watching from the sidelines as your friends indulge.
Well, for Houstonians, that’s all about to change. Enter: Cinnaholic, a vegan bakery specializing in—you guessed it—gourmet cinnamon rolls. The kicker? These plant-based delights are only a few months away!
Co-founders and husband-and-wife duo Shannon and Florian Radke opened the first Cinnaholic bakery in Berkeley, California back in 2010 as a way to spread their love for plant-based food while also providing satisfying sweets that all types of eaters could enjoy.
Four short years later, in 2014, the couple landed a spot on ABC’s hit TV show Shark Tank, and, after securing an investment got to work on some massive expansion plans. These days, you can find Cinnaholic storefronts across 13 US states and Canada. And now, they’ve got their sights set on Houston.
Sound too good to be true? Just wait. Once Cinnaholic opens its doors in H-Town in spring 2019, you’ll get to taste test their customizable, made-to-order cinnamon rolls that practically melt in your mouth.
You won’t just have a few basic flavors (read: chocolate and vanilla) to choose from, either. No, you can let your creativity loose, selecting from over 20 unique frosting flavors (including amaretto, cake batter, chai, and banana cream) and a variety of delicious toppings like marshmallows, fruit, chocolate chips, or nuts. Seriously, the combinations are practically endless. If you’re having trouble figuring out which flavors to mix and match, though (we get it), you can choose from their tried-and-true signature combos. We recommend the Cookie Monster.
However, these soft and gooey cinnamon rolls are just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re not in the mood for these sticky delights, they also offer perfectly-cooked brownies and chocolate chip cookies, edible cookie dough, and, drum roll… Cinnacakes, large, square-shaped versions of the rolled bakery item that includes your choices of five toppings.
But quite possibly the best part about these plant-based sweets (aside from their icing coating and cinnamon spice) is that everything is made entirely from scratch using real-food ingredients and are 100% vegan, dairy-, egg-, and cholesterol-free.
At this point, if you’re drooling at simply the thought of spending your weekend (and let’s be real, weekday) mornings at Cinnaholic, don’t worry — you won’t have to hold out much longer.
