Running may be an individual sport, but logging all your miles solo can be a real drag (who the hell are we supposed to high-five?). That’s why we love run clubs. They’re the perfect place to meet fellow fit friends and mix up your workout routine.
And we can hardly think of a better running partner than Nike Run Clubs. After all, Nike is the OG of the running shoe world, so you’ll be benefiting from decades of experience when you join the group.
If you live in a major US city, chances are there’s a Nike Run Club out there waiting for you. Currently, Nike Run Clubs can be found in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Orange County, California, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. There’s even one in Toronto for our neighbors to the north.
The clubs are coached by some of the best in the business. And those foot soldiers are there to help you stay motivated when the running gets tough. They can even provide individual guidance and special training plans.
Lots of run clubs meet weekly and offer medium-length runs for runners of all abilities. With Nike, the meet-ups are way more specialized. If you’re just starting out, there’s the Ready, Set, Go Run, that can literally help you run your first mile.
There’s also a more general session called Run with the Crowd where you share the road with other runners who are just like you. And those with a need for speed will love Nike’s sessions that focus on going super fast. Meanwhile, anyone training for a distance race will benefit from the Long Runs hosted by some clubs.
If you haven’t picked up what we’re putting down by now, it’s that you have options. Looking to sightsee while you sweat? Try the Local Run, where the pace is easy so you can explore the city around you. Or take it up a notch at the H.I.T. and Run. At these sessions, you’ll mix your running with bursts of high-intensity training for a killer workout.
Because it’s 2017, Nike knows that you want to keep track of all the miles you log at run club. So they’ve created a special App that pairs with the workouts. It’s just one more way Nike is making it easier for you to stop making excuses and Just Do It (had to be said).
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
