If you’re craving a vacation but can’t get out of town, grab your wallet and shades because your next “getaway” is along the Venice boardwalk. Meet The Waterfront: a beachy staycation in disguise as a restaurant.
On the outside, The Waterfront is just another Venice cafe. But once you step inside, the space transforms into an ultimate coastal experience. From a greenery-filled outdoor patio to a loungey beer garden complete with shuffleboard and ping pong, The Waterfront feels like a resort and a friend’s backyard (if you have a friend with a big yard and fully stocked fridge).
While The Waterfront looks and feels completely new to the boardwalk, the Venice spot is actually a revival of On the Waterfront, a casual joint that was open for 23 years before closing in the winter of 2017.
The new owners upgraded the restaurant by adding green plants, bright colors, remodeled spaces, and a diet-conscious menu loaded with GF and veggie options that go beyond classic surf shack snacks. But don’t worry — they still have nachos and fish & chips for those crunchy cravings.
Check out the GF Grain Bowl with quinoa and roasted vegetables or the Waterfront Veggie Burger with avocado. Stopping by for brunch? Say hello to acai bowls with coconut granola, salmon benedicts with arugula salads, and a multigrain waffle with maple butter.
If you’re thirsty, they have bottomless mimosas everyday from 10am – noon and the bar serves everything from GF beer to Prosecco to cocktails made with fermented spirits (aka lower alcohol content than hard spirits). Fitt Tip: don’t miss the walk-up window cafe open all-day for espresso drinks and pastries.
Perfect for early risers and night owls, The Waterfront on Ocean Front Walk is open Sunday-Thursday from 10am to 10pm and Friday-Saturday from 10am to 11pm, so you can nosh on fish tacos and play shuffleboard anytime of the day. Need we say more to convince you where your next weekend hangout will be?
