The trendy health food concept we’ve always known we deserved has arrived. San Francisco-based Urban Remedy has officially opened its first LA storefront in Venice.
If the name sounds familiar, you’re not crazy. A small selection of the brand’s organic grab-and-go juices, smoothies, and plant-based prepared meals can be found in end-cap kiosks at Whole Foods across the city. But now, you can get your hands on all the mindfully-made, ready-to-eat offerings you’ve been missing out on at their brick-and-mortar shop on Lincoln Blvd. Sour Cream and Chive Kale Chips, Matcha Energy Bars, Raw Cacao Mousse, The Vegan Caesar — it’s all in your future.
Why it matters: Urban Remedy isn’t just another here today, gone tomorrow brand with a well-curated Instagram feed. Founder Neka Pasquale is a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese medicine who combined her passion for health and knowledge of nutrition to pioneer a modern wellness company aimed at making an impact on the way we eat.
Centered around the philosophy that “Food is Healing”, every ingredient on the menu is intentionally chosen for its healing properties and is locally-sourced. And you won’t find any gluten, dairy, white sugar or flour, canola, soybean or corn oil in anything, either. The best part? Everything is made in-house, in small batches daily.
Walk into the bright Venice store and you’ll find an endless supply of plant-based goodness (aka everything you need to live your best life). They’ve taken all of the guesswork out of clean, healthy eating without sacrificing taste, so the hardest part of your visit will be deciding what to get. But you’ve got this. So, go ahead and order a cold-pressed juice and Mock Tuna Wrap for the road or their outdoor patio.
Whatever your need (or craving), they have a remedy.
