Avoiding gluten is nearly impossible, but a meal out with friends doesn’t have to be. Philly can accommodate everyone — including gluten-free eaters. We know narrowing down the search can be time-consuming and even a bit stressful, so we did all of the work for you.

Whether you’re celiac, have a dietary sensitivity, or are avoiding gluten like the plague, you can rest easy at these GF-approved spots.

Feeling the need to change it up? You’re in luck. Just about everything at Double Knot can be prepared gluten-free, including the dumplings, most sushi rolls, and pad Thai. Oh, and trust us when we say that you haven’t lived until you’ve tried their kimchi fried rice. If you're strolling through Center City and looking for a quick lunch, make your own protein plate, and then grab yourself some caffeine at their specialty coffee bar.

When we think Harp & Crown, we think unique, funky, and totally delicious. Most dishes are or can be made gluten-free, making it the perfect Center City spot for both you and your gluten-loving friends. Lounge on a couch, at a table, at the bar, or plan ahead and reserve a lane in their two-lane bowling alley beneath the restaurant. Seriously, this place has it all.

Founded right here in town, the honeygrow fast-casual dining experience is one for the GF books. Stop by any one of their 10 locations in the Greater Philadelphia area and try their Red Coconut Curry stir fry bowl or Greek Out salad. If you can’t resist the temptation, check out the honeybar, where you can create a delicious snack or dessert using fresh fruit, local honey, a variety of garnishes, and house-made whipped cream.

When a place has an entire menu sans gluten, we know it’s the real deal. That’s why we insist you head on over to Ocean Prime and dig in. May we recommend the king crab legs or Chilean sea bass? Though, if you’re not a seafood-lover, don’t sweat it. They have plenty of other options like prime steaks, pork chops, and some gnarly salads and sides. On a nice night, take an after-dinner stroll to the nearby City Hall and Love Park to finish the evening.

South St.’s Southern-inspired REX 1516 caters to those who are gluten-free with custom menus for brunch, dinner, and even dessert. Dying for a burger that isn’t wrapped in lettuce? They have you covered. When your appetite is larger than your conscience, check out the blackened shrimp and grits with a fried egg and roasted pork belly.

100% vegan and gluten-free-friendly? Say no more. It’s no surprise that Bar Bombón is a favorite of those living in or passing through Rittenhouse. With GF options like buffalo cauliflower tacos, empanadas, and nachos, we just can’t get enough of this Puerto Rican-inspired menu.

With menu items like blood orange margaritas, plantain chips with house-made guacamole, and pork belly on corn carnitas, we’re convinced Lolita is GF heaven. The Mexican street-style joint is all Midtown Village can talk about, and honestly, who could blame them? We highly recommend you join ’em by snagging a spot—indoors or out—at this 13th Street favorite.

We’re not sure what the best part about Fuel is — the fact that everything on the menu is less than 500 calories, or that any of their meals can be made entirely gluten-free. We’re going to go ahead and say it’s a tie. Whether it’s the strawberry spinach salad, Korean BBQ wrap, or Teriyaki Chicken bowl, this energized menu is jam-packed with fresh, 100% organic ingredients. Add a freshly squeezed juice like Kale Pineapple or Green Tea Matcha to your meal for the ultimate experience. Find them in South Philly, Center City, and University City, but watch out for more locations coming in the future.

With their all-natural, 100% gluten-free options, there’s no doubt that Real Food Eatery is the realest. This Rittenhouse, Center City, and City Ave. (coming soon) fave wants you to design your meal however you’d like. Choose between a variety of salad and rice bowls or design a full plate by choosing an entrée over a green or grain with two sides. May we recommend the Lemon Herbed Chicken with Moroccan Chickpea Salad and Golden Cauliflower? YUM.

We promise you that you’ve never been anywhere as adorable as P.S. (that’s short for Pure Sweets) & Co. The organic, gluten-free, plant-based café’s menu changes depending on the availability of organic and local ingredients, but we have no doubt that you’ll find everything you’ve ever needed—and then some—in this cozy and nutrient-driven Rittenhouse eatery. P.S. they’re BYO-cocktail, so be sure to stop by the liquor store on your way over.

The words ‘pizza’ and ‘gluten-free’ rarely go together in the same sentence. But SliCE on S. 10th St. and in Fishtown promises to serve up something for everyone by making any of their organic-only pizzas with GF dough. Make yours traditional or try something crazy, like truffled ribeye or Brussels sprouts with balsamic glaze. SliCE even has vegan cheese for all you DF and GF folks out there.

With menu items like pretzels, bagels, and pizza dough, one might think that Taffets on S. 9th St. sounds like a gluten-filled nightmare. But rest assured, this infamous Italian Market bakery brings delicious and homemade breads to you entirely gluten-free. They have the sweet stuff covered, too. Check out their almond vanilla biscotti or carrot cake cookie bar while you’re there.
