While a gluten-free menu may be just as easy as finding Waldo (it takes some practice), we have the list of eateries that do it best around the Valley!
From gourmet pizzerias and organic cafes to neighborhood markets and world cuisine restaurants, our city is inviting you out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy!
Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen
Carb-lovers and clean eaters unite at Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen. Whether you’re visiting their Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, or Paradise Valley locations, the Italian-inspired cuisine is almost all gluten-free (with the exception of only two pizza doughs). Create your own GF pizza or sink your fork into a baked Lasagna Bolognese. And raise your glass because there’s a gluten-free beer and cocktail menu too!
La Grande Orange Pizzeria
They know how to do gluten-free pizza right at this chic cafe and Arcadia neighborhood staple. Any tasty pie can be made with a gluten-free crust at La Grande Orange Pizzeria. For a unique slice, ask for the Fallen Angel — sausage, fennel, peppers, cheese, and red sauce. Save some room for the gelato bar or bakery next door in the funky fresh grocery section.
Save the grease and gluten for the other guys. With two locations in Ahwatukee and Central Phoenix, Pomegranate Cafe serves up tasty brunch selections made with the highest-quality ingredients from local farmers. Order up the Breakfast Burrito, made with egg/tofu, seasonal veggies, harvest hash, Anasazi beans, vegan or cheddar cheese, and wrapped in a spinach tortilla. For a sweeter bite, try the gluten-free pancakes with pure maple syrup and coconut whip.
No gluten allowed at Gluten-Free Creations where everything is made fresh and totally wheat-free. Stop in for a gluten-free treat, like the sinfully delicious Cinnamon and Sugar Donuts. Need a GF birthday cake? They can do that too!
Green is a favorite stop for vegans in Central Phoenix and Tempe — but it’s also a popular spot for those in need of a GF fix! Order from the special wheat-free menu to get noms like bowls of organic rice topped with vegan protein, fresh veggies, and some awesome GF sauces (like their mock “Buffalo Wings” sauce)! For a smaller bite packing a huge punch, try the Secret BBQ Sammie — “chicken” with caramelized onions and peppers in an espresso BBQ sauce (just ask for the GF bread). Fitt Tip: in a hurry or looking for dessert? Snag a gluten-free muffin or scone next door at the vegan coffee shop, Nami.
True Food Kitchen
Looking for something new, fresh, and wheat-free? True Food Kitchen at Scottsdale Quarter and Biltmore Fashion Park offers shoppers a fun, eclectic place to rest your feet and treat your palate. Explore the rotating, creative menu with the Inside Out Quinoa Burger (hummus, tzatziki, tomato, cucumber, onion, avocado, and feta) or a number of the GF entree bowls filled with fresh protein and organic veggies. And you should probably splurge for dessert with the Flourless Chocolate Cake dripping with caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream.
24 Carrots! isn’t just serving up fresh juices and vegan dishes, it’s a great place to find some stellar GF eats in Tempe! The menu is easy to navigate with GF items like the Arizona Bowl — tofu or cauliflower scramble with apple soyrizo hash, cheese, avocado, and black beans. Tame your sweet tooth with the Carrot Cake Pancakes or get all your daily nutrients packed into one dish with the RAW Tree of Life Salad (packed with organic, local greens).
Gluten-free goes by a different name in Arcadia and it’s called Jewel’s Cafe. All gluten-free and all really good, this popular cafe serves up breakfast, brunch, and lunch with $12 bottomless drinks everyday, all day! Cheers to being gluten-free! For something delightfully sweet, enjoy the Lemon Raspberry Pancakes with powdered sugar and ricotta cheese, or the Maple Bacon French Toast. And what’s even more delightful? How about cookies, brownies, scones, and breads being delivered right to your front door when you order online?
With a food philosophy that says, “We want you to leave our restaurant feeling great”, you know your tummy is in for a treat. And, with The Gluten-Free Guide to Modern Market, you couldn’t feel any safer on your GF journey… it’s like they’re holding your hand. This guide literally lays it all out for you, so you won’t have any gluten-free roadblocks. From fresh salads and brick-oven pizzas to toasted sandwiches, you have an amazing selection of healthy choices to choose from. Fitt Tip: your receipt includes the calorie count of each item to keep you in check, if that’s your thing.
Farm & Craft
F&C’s mantra is Food + Affection + Community, which translates to serving healthy and sustainable food in a community-style atmosphere. With a seasonal “Wellness Menu” to increase probiotic levels, maintain high levels of antioxidants, reduce overall stress, and prevent inflammation, this healthy hot spot is a gluten-free must. And what could be more enticing than the Bacon Brussels Sprout Flatbread made with nitrate-free bacon? How about the LOVE IS (fill in the blank) chalkboard that hangs outside? You’re invited to fill in the blank with what love is to you.
Chilaquiles made with green chile chicken and a fully-loaded Power Salad are just two reasons Bevvy Uptown is hip and happening morning, noon, and night! Then, thrown in the kicked-back vibe, dog-friendly patio, and unforgettable cocktails (that can make you forget). What’s left? Good times being gluten-free! So, whether you grab a seat at the lively bar or just cozy into one of the booths, you and your tummy will be very happy at this swanky neighborhood pub!
Ready to take your taste buds and tummy on a trip around the world? With this Asian- and Mexican-inspired menu, you’ll want to bring your appetite and quite possibly your passport! SumoMaya celebrates “Sushi-Tacos-Ceviche & Fun!” And, lest we forget, a menu that is mucho gluten-free! While the chef recommends ordering three to five dishes to enjoy the full flavorful experience, we recommend inviting three to five friends to enjoy the flavorful menu to the fullest!
“Healthy Food for a Happy World” is the Flower Child mantra and maybe that’s all we need, besides love! If anything, you’ll love the menu when you see all of the GF options to choose from, including the Strawberry Fields Salad, Gluten-Free Mac & Cheese, and the Forbidden Rice Bowl. And with organic wine, local beer, and kombucha on tap, Flower Child just might be all we need, and love!
Not only should food taste good, but it should make you feel good, too. This is what inspired the super-healthy, super-delicious menu of Valley favorite Original ChopShop, which is full of gluten-free goodness. Visit the online menu and click the gluten-free option at the top of the page. In just one click, the gluten is gone. Try the Moroccan Turkey Wrap with roasted red pepper, red grape, cucumber, house greens, yogurt sauce, and red wine vinaigrette, or the Zen Bowl Scramble with spinach, mushroom, white cheddar, and brown rice.
The Wild Thaiger & Little Thaiger
Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives took a seat at The Wild Thaiger and raved that the Dragon Eggz were “Dynamite!”. Now, while these pork, shrimp, and crab dumplings don’t meet the gluten-free mark, you’ll enjoy so many other diet-friendly dishes that do, including gluten-free pad thai and 24K Curry made with Thai and Japanese eggplant, pumpkin, green beans, bamboo shoots, and spicy green curry.
Luci’s Healthy Marketplace
This neighborhood market in Midtown has been a favorite for years where you can grab-and-go with something healthy or sit for a while and catch up with friends. And when they opened Luci’s at the Orchard, they were simply spreading the healthy love a little further up the road. With an all-day breakfast menu, the Funky Monkey French Toast or Gluten-Free Flapjacks may be even better when the sun goes down.
