Good news! Phoenix has a huge selection of fantastic cycling studios that will get you sweating while staying cool (a real unicorn in our city). Here are the best spots to clip in.
Want more than your basic ride? For those with a competitive nature, CycleBar offers a digital monitor with live stats of everyone present and even holds small “races” during the class. If that’s not unique enough, they also use a small weighted “bar” (get it now?) halfway through the class to incorporate some upper-body work. And since this studio has several locations throughout the Valley, you’re bound to be close to one no matter where you are in the city. Fitt Tip: for bike and a little bubbly, Sunday Brunch Rides are accompanied by mimosas!
RPM Spin in North Scottsdale really takes ownership of its “out-of-the-saddle” style. Classes include sprinting, jogging, and climbing intervals that are done both on and off the bike, all to the beat of the music. It offers a real full-body workout that’s worth the sweat and sore quads! And while a rockin’ instructor will guide your calorie-torching journey, when the lights go out, it’s all about you! RPM calls it a “Dark Ride” where you’re on your own and you decide whether or not your workout includes a heavy climb, fast sprint, or easy breezy peddling.
With locations in Phoenix and Tempe, The Madison Improvement Club has become the studio for a “Party on a Bike”! It’s a super high-energy class with hip music and flashing lights — imagine a rave on wheels. But the party doesn’t end when your class is over. From their Arcadia Crewz rides through the community from bar to bar to their yoga/spin retreats is places like California and Hawaii, this studio knows how to have fun while feeling fit!
Studio 360 is one of the city’s longest-standing studios, and for good reason! Phoenicians know to go to their Arcadia spot for the best price ($5 for first-time riders) and some of the most dedicated staff around! Plus, something about riding in the dark makes you pedal even harder. Heads up: they ride “drop-saddle” meaning that you’ll be standing on those pedals the whole time.
Love having the latest tech and data at your fingertips? You’ll feel right at home in this Scottsdale studio. Flywheel Sports uses personal performance data to push you to a new personal best. The power to become a stronger you is, quite literally, in your own hands (your workout metrics are on your phone)! So it’s time to put your cycling shoes on, so you can spread your wings and fly into a Method, Power, or Tempo class! Bonus: cool off with some body sculpting at FlyBarre for the perfect full-body workout.
Clip, drip, and play! Cycle Ave. “Clip and Drip Specialists” use some insane beats and lights to create a club-like atmosphere and an intense ride that’ll push your limits. Set up inside Funktional Fitness in Downtown Chandler, riders can sweat it out in a cycling class, and if you’re really feeling ambitious, make their way to the gym for even more muscle burn. Hungry, but your legs are Jell-O? There are plenty of great Downtown coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Known as the #triplesweat studio in town where you can Breathe, Burn, or Bike (Yoga, Barre, or Spin), Sweatshop in the Uptown Plaza is the place to, well… sweat! Their 45-minute rides are worth the reservation, but it may be the fact that you can roll out your yoga mat, step up to the ballet barre, or grab a parfait at Flower Child next door that may just seal the deal.
