Bringing together a passionate community of WOD warriors for CrossFit-style classes, bootcamps, and nutrition coaching, Lawrenceville’s Arsenal Strength has long established itself as a gathering place for novices and fitness vets alike to sweat in harmony.

Their success, and the size of their dedicated community, has seen them look beyond their original location next to Hop Farm Brewing. Now tucked in a gutted and refurbished bay-style warehouse in Upper Lawrenceville—just blocks from the former location—Arsenal Strength’s new digs have quickly filled with those looking to clean, jerk, and double-under their way across the 7,000-square-foot interior.

UPGRADED TO UPGRADE YOU

The convergence of strength programming and family-like bonds have kept faithful exercisers flocking back to Arsenal no matter how many times they have reinvented themselves. “We’re so lucky to have members who have been with us since day one, who have continued to evolve and grow with us over the years,” owner Brooks DiFiore told Fitt.

With events like the Arsenal Throwdown and HalloWOD—a beloved costumed CrossFit competition—the environment is always warm and welcoming. And though there will definitely be some changes in the future, the core commitment is always about its members.

Asked about the move, DiFiore spoke candidly: “we knew that we wanted to remain in Lawrenceville and continue to serve this community. [The new space is] an opportunity to redefine the level of service and amenities available to our members”. True to his word, Arsenal Strength’s new home has no shortage of upgrades (plus ample parking).

The location features plenty of space to crush CrossFit, of course, but it also includes an area for bootcamp-style classes and open-gym workouts, so you can stop by and get sweaty even if you might be trying to avoid that wall ball circuit in today’s WOD. When the warm weather invites an outdoor workout, the bay door stays open, leading to sun-bathed lifting platforms, marked running distances along Butler Street, and some extra fresh air to keep your head in the game for that 5k row.

Beyond the workouts, though, Arsenal Strength now features in-house chiropractic care to keep you moving at your best and individual nutritional coaching to ensure optimal recovery, allowing you to get the most out of each session. And as if that weren’t enough, InBody biometric scanning is available to members looking to truly understand the effects of their training with in-depth, personalized data on muscle mass, body fat percentage, and total body composition.

EXPANDING... AGAIN

Having just expanded in September 2019, Arsenal Strength is overflowing with excitement — and also sweat-drenched CrossFitters yet again. DiFiore says that in the coming months, his gym will grow again; he plans to knock down a wall to expand next door, creating a dedicated, private space for the bootcamp classes that have become increasingly popular, as well as granting more room for open workouts and personal training.

It’s a well-thought-out approach to an already-thriving PGH fitness powerhouse. And with renovations scheduled to be completed by January 1, Arsenal Strength’s next phase stands to be the home to new fitness resolutions for years to come.
