Mecka Fitness took the South Hills by storm when they opened six years ago, and it’s easy to see why when you sign up for one of their signature classes like BODYLAB and M-FLEX/20.
But if the commute to their boutique gym on Washington Rd. is a little too long for your liking, Mecka is about to free up some of your time — the one-stop fitness shop in Mt. Lebanon is making big moves to grow their community.
Watching the popularity of their classes increase, it was only a matter of time before Mecka expanded their presence in the city. So the fitness fanatics announced they’ll officially be opening a second location in a 10,000-square-foot space at 2908 Smallman St. in the Strip District.
“This project is something that has been in the works for several years. We have been building our team and aligning our resources for the past two years, and we are finally ready to move forward,” said owner Kevin Beamon in a press release.
Luckily, the new studio in the Strip will still have a similar schedule to the one you know and love from the flagship gym. Expect the low-impact RowFit class, along with yoga and cycling, to regularly show up on the class list. And, like the OG locale, they will also be managing a CrossFit gym so you can vary your workout every time you step through those brand-new doors.
A solid schedule isn’t the only thing you can anticipate coming from the new space. You’ll also have access to full-service amenities, including retail from lululemon, a sauna studio, and a smoothie bar, plus recovery and nutrition services.
Mecka is anticipating a January 2020 opening, with Next Architecture leading the design. Keep an eye on their Instagram for more details, and get ready to incorporate Mecka Fitness in The Strip into next year’s health and fitness plans.
