To wrap up this summer’s BikeFest, PedalPGH is back again for the 24th consecutive year (impressive!) as one of Pittsburgh’s most well-known and most fun charity rides around. What’s better than cruising around with friends and family, enjoying the Burgh’s scenery, and contributing to a good cause?
Since ‘94, this fundraiser has helped to ensure Pittsburgh’s streets and communities remain safe and accessible for biking and walking and BikePGH is back at it again to make sure it stays that way.
Hit the streets
Hosted in part by BikePGH and UPMC Health Plan, the casual ride encourages people to get out, explore the city, and, of course, stay healthy. Riders have the option to choose from four different routes: 10 miles, 25 miles, 40 miles, and if you’re really feeling like a go-getter—62 miles. When it comes to PedalPGH, there’s no such thing as an overachiever. Pedal your heart out, champ.
The four different rides all kick off at the Southside Riverfront Park at 18th Street and each route will be color-coded and signed to help you navigate your way through the city. Each route will even have turn and cue sheets and marshals to get you on your way.
Registration for the event includes some pretty cool swag like a limited edition t-shirt, a PedalPGH water bottle, and fun perks like rest stops with snacks (gotta have those snacks), post-race refreshments, and a finish line festival so you can put in the miles and then party it up when you finally get out of the saddle.
A ride for a cause
This year PedalPGH is really making the miles count for something bigger and has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to raise money for not only safe streets, but also for the fight against cancer. Record attendance is expected for the 24th edition of this ride for a cause, and you better be a part of it.
Gear up to hit the roads on Sunday, August 27th!
