As one of the Steel City’s most beloved neighborhoods, Shadyside is home to a myriad of shops, historic buildings, gourmet restaurants, and even a breathtaking race!
Run Shadyside takes place every October for runners who want to participate in a quick, scenic race through the tree-lined streets. Choose from a 5k run or 1-mile family fun run/walk that start at the corner of Ivy and Walnut.
Before the race, participants can enjoy a free pancake breakfast (talk about a tasty way to carbo-load!) And post-race, runners can stick around for a party on Bellefonte Street.
This fun, picturesque event has another killer attribute though: it’s for a good cause! Proceeds from Run Shadyside support the programs of the Boys and Girls Club of Shadyside, which is dedicated to serving more than 900 boys and girls ages 6-17. Have a good time and get some exercise while supporting the organization’s mission–“no child is turned away due to lack of funds.”
