By now there’s a good chance that you’ve heard of CrossFit.
Are we right? Or are we right?
Maybe you’ve seen it on ESPN. You may have tried it yourself. At which point you fell head over heels for this no frills fitness regimen. During the summer and over break, you workout at the box near your house. You know, the one that has practically become your second home. But now that you’re back on campus, you’re stuck doing half-assed hero workouts in the corner of the aerobics room.
Skip the subpar workouts, friends. It’s time to check out Panther Crossfit – Pitt’s very own, student-run, CrossFit club. The group, headed up by current president Rich Schoonmaker, meets in the Pete at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Schoonmaker, a Level 1 Crossfit coach, Health and Physical Activity major with a specialization in Exercise Science, puts the group through the paces; adhering to the CrossFit methods: constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements. Roughly translated, that means you can expect a great workout that goes beyond the boring exercise routine you’re used to.
Pather CrossFit is welcoming and accommodating for beginners and advanced athletes alike. So if you’re looking to get in shape, or keep your gains going, Panther CrossFit might be for you. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
