It’s happening. It’s really happening. Pittsburgh is finally getting on the healthy, fast-casual trend. And we’re pretty stoked about it.
Wait for it… Philadelphia-based honeygrow, a healthy food chain, is opening its first Pittsburgh location in East Liberty this summer.
In many cities, healthy meal-in-a-bowl eateries are nothing new. From poké to acai and salad to stir-fry, these spots are popping up everywhere. But aside from Earth Inspired Salads in Market Square, Pittsburgh has been lagging way behind. Thankfully, honeygrow is setting up shop to offer more good for you options.
Details about the opening are limited, but from what we’ve seen on honeygrow’s website, they’ll be moving into 105 S. Highland Avenue.
A few things we do know? Expect a menu centered on locally and seasonally-sourced ingredients, used to create customizable stir-fry dishes, salads, and “honeybars” (cups of fruit with toppings, like honey, coconut flakes, dark chocolate, and granola).
honeygrow is also big on walking the talk, partnering to host community fitness events and run groups. Fingers crossed that they’re planning more of the same in Pittsburgh.
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
