Ah, “Just A Short Run?” That sounds pretty quick and easy, right? Not quite. Don’t be fooled by the name of this popular PGH race.
Just a Short Run is anything but short. Seriously, this event features a 30k! That’s less than a marathon, but still a heck of a lot of running.
Take on the 30k challenge if you’re feeling ambitious, but if that’s not quite your style then never fear! There is a lot more that this event has to offer, such as a half marathon, 8.1 mile run, and 5k.
So besides featuring some ironically longer events, what’s so special about this Pittsburgh race? Well it’s an annual benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, led by race director Kevin Smith, who lost his younger brother to leukemia in 1995. Talk about a good cause.
After the race, stick around for the awards ceremonies, music, and a recovery buffet from the sponsors!
Runners looking to support a worthy charity or practice running Pittsburgh’s hills before the city’s marathon will be sure to enjoy this spring race.
