It’s back to school time for students everywhere. And in Pittsburgh, that means incoming freshmen and upperclassman are flooding into campus housing and apartments throughout the city.
Sure most of these young whippersnappers are dreaming about frat parties, beer pong and late night runs to the “O”. But while these party goers – um, we mean students – are getting settled in, one local college is getting some positive press.
In a recent article published by Greatist, an online health and fitness magazine, the University of Pittsburgh was named one of the 25 healthiest colleges in the country.
At Pitt, students seeking to ward off the freshman 15 can do so with 24 hour access to fitness centers in their residence halls. And they can snack healthy at dining facilities who source food locally and offer a variety of nutritional meals.
Given its expertise around medicine and healthcare, it should come as no surprise that Pitt also achieved high marks for its wellness programs. On-campus services like primary care and easy-to-access pharmacy help students stay healthy.
