Check Out Pittsburgh’s New Artist-Designed Bike Racks

Thanks to the efforts of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Bike Pittsburgh and the Mayor’s Office, Downtown now has fifteen bike racks that double as public art installations. Or are they art installations that double as bike racks?

Either way, they’re functional and really freaking cool. You see it’s one thing to recognize the fact that Pittsburgh needs to be more accommodating to cyclists. But it’s a wholly different thing to address said accommodations with an artsy flair.

It’s like the city and Cultural Trust said, “We hear your request for bike racks. So we’ll give you the bike racks and we’ll showcase local artists while we’re at it.” The racks are in the Cultural District after all. So head there to check them out. Or you can just scroll down to see them all.
