It’s the big kahuna, the longest race in all of the Burgh. We’re talking more than 30,000 runners, 60 bands playing, 4,000 volunteers and, most notably, 100 charities supported.
The Pittsburgh Marathon and Half Marathon are growing in size and popularity. Move over Boston and New York, PGH is coming for yah.
The course takes runners across all three of the city’s rivers and through 13 different neighborhoods, featuring festivals, bands and “cheerathoners” to keep morale high…even on our heartbreaking hills.
There’s more to this event than just the two grueling distance races though. Those interested can partake in the marathon relay, 5k run, kids marathon, pet walk, and a health and fitness expo held at the convention center.
Even more, runners have the opportunity to elevate all that personal pain and gain to a higher level, by committing to fundraise for an official Run for a Reason charity. Participants inspired to run for philanthropy earn a free race entry and feel an even greater sense of accomplishment when crossing the finish line in support of a worthy cause.
