What happened to the days of groaning as grandma gave you an ugly holiday sweater as a gift? Now it seems like the whole country is lovingly embracing the ugly sweater trend. If you’re on team ugly sweater, then nothing will bring you more joy than thousands of people digging up their ugliest threads and running in the “merriest 5k” this holiday season.
The Ugly Sweater Run is a fabulous way to get some exercise during the holidays while have a whole bunch of fun.
The run starts at PNC Park, where there will be inflatables, photo stations, games, and, of course, cheerful holiday music. The fun doesn’t stop there though. Once on the course, forget about your typical water or Gatorade stations at every mile. Instead, you’ll find some festive cups of hot chocolate stationed as refreshment. You heard us right. HOT CHOCOLATE!
Post race, reward yourself with some more holiday goodies and a fresh Sam Adams beverage, as is tradition. And just when you think this 5k can’t get any better, the Ugly Sweater Run also benefits charity!
The Race is partnered with Save the Children, a child advocacy nonprofit that serves to protect and give opportunities for children to learn all around the world. Wow, so we can help transform children’s lives AND have some festive fun with our friends and families? Sign us up!
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
