Let’s be honest, ladies. Figuring out how to get fit can be tough.
Do we do more cardio or eat less? Both? Neither? Everyone does CrossFit these days. Maybe that’s the answer. Pumping iron is also a possibility. But we don’t want to get bulky. Forget it. Let’s just hop in the elliptical.
That’s just the kind of thing that CHAARG is trying to prevent. CHAARG stands for “Changing Health, Attitudes + Actions to Recreate Girls.” This national organization has multiple chapters across the country, including one for the ladies of Pitt. The mission is simple: to liberate girls from the elliptical and show them that fitness can be fun.
Here’s how it works: the group meets once week for a chapter-wide event featuring fitness professionals from the Pittsburgh area. Everyone comes together for a workout and info-sharing session. The group workout and the fitness pro shares some expertise. The leadership team also hosts weekly workouts that members can work into their schedule. In the past CHAARG girls have tried Crossfit, kickboxing, hot yoga, and pole dancing.
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
