Ever look longingly at the picturesque cabins and woodsy escapes that pepper every outdoor adventurer’s Instagram feed? Wish you could nab a cozy setup of your own?
Well, thanks to Getaway—a travel startup that rents tiny, 200-square-foot cabins complete with enviable window views of endless evergreens—you can.
In case Portlanders needed another reason to get outside, Getaway has made its way to the Pacific North West.
Set up on 80 woodland acres near the base of Mount Adams, the Outpost features 40 fully-equipped cabins (30 two-person cabins and 10 four-person cabins) near the base of Mount Adams, offering you the perfect opportunity to relax, unplug, and take a break from the daily grind. You're not going to have to put much thought into planning, either, because they've got it all figured out for you (and even stock the mini-kitchen with a few small meals for purchase).
Trust us — this is far from your average trip to the mountains.
Getaway’s tiny cabins are perfect for nature-lovers looking for a taste of outdoor livin’ that doesn’t include pitching a tent or sleeping on the ground.
Instead, when you book at stay in one of Getaway’s intimate hideaways, you’ll wake up to sunshine peeking through trees and enjoy a view of your tranquil surroundings via a large, unobstructed window set up next to your comfy queen bed. But that’s just the start. An unfinished wood interior with rustic decor provides the feeling of minimalistic living without actually having to give up any modern conveniences. And what that actually means is you’ll have an indoor toilet and a hot shower (plus some fluffy towels to boot!). Plus, if you truly want to disconnect, they also offer a cellphone lockbox — you deserve a day off every now and then.
Each cabin also comes equipped with A/C and heat, a picnic table, a two-burner stove, pots and pans, and a fire pit complete with firewood and fire starters, in case you want to cook over an open flame (just pack the bug spray). Oh, and for a small fee, your pooch can come, too!
So, hurry up and book a Getaway cabin in Mount Adams (they’re going fast!) and prepare for an incredible weekend hitting the trails in the nearby Gifford Pinchot National Forest, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, and reaping the benefits of a little outdoor therapy. Sound like the perfect day? We think so, too.
