Fish & Rice is Dishing Out Fresh, Healthy, And Wallet-Friendly Eats in PDX

Only Fish & Rice could possibly make poke more chic than it already is. Recently opening their doors in NW Portland, just off of Burnside, this sushi and poke restaurant is wallet-friendly and so trendy that it’ll make you want to stay awhile just to soak in the good lighting. Have your phone camera and appetite at the ready.

They Get You

These guys have got your back, and your belly. The menu carefully denotes as to whether each item is gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan, making sure that no one is left without options.

We know dietary restrictions can sometimes turn sushi into a sad night of edamame, this is not the case at Fish & Rice. But since we mentioned it, try the edamame — it comes with three different salt combinations and is unlike any soybean we’ve ever downed. Trust us — go spicy with the salt. You will not regret it.

Your order number even comes situated in an adorable succulent. Parting with your succulent when your order is up is the only time you’ll ever be slightly sad.  But worry not — this feeling goes away immediately when you see your colorful, flavorful poke.

Portland Proud

From serving up Happy Mountain Kombucha to seasoning with Jacobsen Salt, Fish & Rice is a Portland restaurant and proud of it. Obviously, they’re doing a lot of things right, and we believe these guys have the pizazz and the panache to turn this restaurant into a PDX classic in no time.

Ready for a visit? If you venture here at lunchtime, they have plenty of seltzer options to keep your crew hydrated. If you’re an after-work aficionado, go all-in and pair your meal with sake or cider, though, you’ll soon see it’s pretty difficult not to go all-in here. Enjoy!
