Fit Foodie Festival & 5K

The words “fit” and “foodie” go together like kale chips and kombucha — a match made in health nut heaven. If this pairing has your endorphins kicked into overdrive, you better sign up for the Fit Foodie Festival & 5K in Liberty Station. Just be sure to bring your appetite because there will be dozens of local food vendors and a beer garden at the finish line (not to mention the endless free snacks along the entire race course).

Chupacabra Half Marathon & 5 Miler

While city runs certainly have their place on the SD race circuit, the natural beauty of this half-marathon course will have you daydreaming the entire way to the finish line. The inaugural Chupacabra Half Marathon is being held at Sweetwater Campground, one of the best local places to escape the urban grind and take in the overlooked views of East County. Just be sure to pack some bug spray — it’s mosquito season out in the sticks.

Boxing & Bellinis

Boxing classes have been all the rage in the world of fitspo recently, so it’s only fitting that the trendy Estancia Hotel is hosting one of their own (with bellinis, of course). Grab a crew and head to the La Jolla hot spot for a killer sweat sesh followed by a relaxing afternoon of sips, snacks, and sunbathing.

Temecula Half

Taking a trip out to San Diego’s wine country rarely involves much physical exertion (besides the heavy pours of wine they keep flowing). But if you’re hoping to make room for an extra glass or two, consider signing up for the Temecula Half Marathon, a hilly, scenic race that’s sure to be a quad burner for even the most seasoned runner. If hills aren’t your thing, you can opt for a 5k walk/run that includes all of the sights (and all of the sips) without the mileage.

CycleNation San Diego

For dedicated runners, cycling events can be a nice change of pace from pounding pavement every weekend, but it can be challenging to shift to a new sport when you don’t have any of the gear. Luckily, this stationary bike-based class doesn’t require anything more than sneakers and your favorite pair of spandex shorts. Gather up a few friends and head to the Del on Coronado for a fun, relay-style bike ride followed by happy hour on the beach (need we say more?)

San Diego CF Cycle for Life

The annual Cycle For Life event is best described as a party on wheels. From the instant your rubber hits the road, you’ll be fully supported with snacks and beverages at every stop along the route (which is about as picturesque as they get). The fun continues as you cross the finish line — the post-ride party will be held at the Farmer and the Seahorse.
