At long last, it’s officially festival season. You’ve missed Coachella and Stagecoach but don’t worry — there’s an after-dark wellness festival in your backyard on August 19 that promises the same the electric yet grounding vibe… without the hangover.
Flow under the twilight sky
With Yoga after Dark, you check off all the festival basics: good music, art installations, mindful vendors and sponsors galore (like Om, Organic Mushroom Nutrition and Chosen Foods, among others), and excited people all taking over an ordinary space and turning it into something magical. But just for one night.
What makes this festival different is the headliner: a yoga class. In particular, a nighttime, silent yoga class in Horton Plaza Park downtown. Silent yoga, you say? How can that be anything like a music festival.
We’re glad you asked. Each yogi will be wearing their own set of Sound Off headphones that will allow you to completely silence the external world and flow solely to the beats of DJ Mango Jennings, who will be spinning perfect mood music to go along with a custom Vinyasa yoga sequence led by Missy Lopez of Color Your Canvas and a meditation led by Bankers Hill’s Sojourn Healing Collective.
But that’s not all. There will also be guest performances, a detox corner, a wellness lounge, and tons of other awesome activities.
Join the dark side
Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 19 to get in on the action. The event starts at 6pm, and while that might not mean that it’ll be particularly dark, you can’t really beat being outside in San Diego at dusk. All you need to do is tune in, jam out, and go with the flow.
Break out your yoga mat, recruit your friends, and get ready for a whole new type of festival experience.
