We’re going to let you in on a little secret: everyone loves baked goods. But sometimes allergies make finding baked goods that you can indulge in a challenge. Enter: Wholesome Bakery — a bakery in Lower Haight that everyone (allergies or no allergies) will love.

DID IT ALL FOR THE COOKIE

Wholesome Bakery opened its first brick-and-mortar on Divisadero St. in early 2018 (conveniently right across from the newest Sightglass Coffee), and everything in the pastry counter and on the menu is gluten-free, soy-free, trans-fat-free, vegan… oh, and low-glycemic, too.

Wanting to try Wholesome but your dining companion is hesitant on how good a gluten-free treat can be? This place will change their mind. Gone are the days of hard, crumbly cookies and dry cupcakes. The proof is in the pudding… well, actually in the Kitchen Sink Cookie (filled with chocolate chips, caramel, oats, sea salt, and pecans), and be sure to grab a few allergy-friendly Thin Mints for the road.

BUT FIRST, BRUNCH

Anyone who loves brunch (re: everyone) will want to pop by Wholesome Bakery on Saturdays or Sundays. They offer a rotating vegan menu of both savory and sweet brunch options (including a sweet potato and garlic hash bread pudding and crepes filled with mushroom and cauliflower creme).

You’ll want to be sure to get to Wholesome early in the day if you’re looking for a specific option: their five daily cupcake flavors, seven-layer bars, almond tea cakes, and just about everything else typically sells out by the end of the day.

If you’re a lover of delicious baked goods, get yourself to Wholesome ASAP. This might become your new go-to shop for all things sweet, baked, and delicious.
