Mixt is Taking Their Salad Game to The Next Level With a New “Salad Lounge” in The Mission

Nothing gets our heart pumping harder than a good salad (okay, maybe a good sweat dripping workout actually gets our heart pumping harder). But when we heard about the new “salad lounge” opening on Valencia from the Mixt team, our heart skipped a beat. Because come May, the SF salad game will never be the same.

  • Not just a grab-n-go

Mixt is beloved for their grab-n-go salads (the lines at any FiDi location at lunchtime are proof) and they have dabbled in dinner with the protein + two sides option at their Cow Hollow locale. But now, they’re switching things up with their new digs in the Mission opening in May.

Not only will the space be larger, the seating is getting an upgrade (we’ve heard rumors of cozy vegan leather seats), making this not only a perfect place for lunch, but a casual dinner date spot as well.

Plus, the menu will go beyond your favorite Beetnik, Golden Warrior, and seasonal salads — the new location will also serve up signature market plates. Expect entrée options like Herb Roasted Free Range Chicken and Grilled Columbia River Steelhead and sides like Grilled Broccoli with lemon and chili flakes and Mashed Sweet Potatoes.

  • Okay, but what’s a “salad lounge”?

Mixt’s newest home is a former lounge previously known for its mariachi bands and margaritas. While we’re still unsure whether or not the mariachi band will be returning (but we’re crossing our fingers), you’ll be able to get your hands on cocktails like a Kale Mimosa.

But if veggie-infused cocktails aren’t your thing, you’ll also be able to order a local beer or glass of wine to enjoy with your salad.

The best part? Your new favorite place will be within walking distance to Dolores Park, and if you and your friends play your cards right (aka purchase four or more salads to take away and enjoy in the sun), you’ll get a “salad tote” for your commitment to healthy (and delicious) eating. Can’t make it in person? Caviar and UberEats will bring your salad to you.

Keep an eye on their Facebook to stay up on any new developments and send yourself a save the date — the Mixt salad lounge will be here before you know it!
