Looking for all your group fitness needs under one roof? Are you also trying to do whatever J Lo does to stay ageless? Based in Las Vegas, former Yankee Alex Rodriguez’s boutique studio TruFusion is claiming to be the “new standard” for fitness, and it’s coming to Seattle thanks to some help from Russell Wilson.
Big choices in Bellevue
In spring 2019, Bellevue will get the first taste of TruFusion, a rapidly expanding and popular studio popping up across the nation. But they’re not done there — with help from A-Rod, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, and local entrepreneurs Scott Swerland and Taryn Naidu, the state of Washington might see as many as 10 studios pop up in the coming years, including two in Seattle proper by summer 2019.
But you may be wondering what a workout at TruFusion is all about. Well, within these 10,000-square-foot hybrid group fitness centers, you’ll have more than 65 class formats (with both heated and non-heated options), including bootcamp, cycling, kettlebells, battle ropes, TRX, yoga, barre, and Pilates.
Getting involved is a snap, too. TruFusion has multiple membership models. Cycle in the morning but namaste after work? For the daily (or two-a-day) ClassPass user, new members can sign up for the studio’s “30 for $30 deal”, which gives you unlimited access to classes your first month, then $120/month ongoing. And access you will — the studio is expected to host hundreds of classes per week.
If you’re hesitant to break up with your multi-studio routine but want to experience the hype, you can opt for a one-week membership for just $30 or get yourself an unlimited day pass for $20.
So, where does A-Rod come in? Before Rodriguez became a major investor and equity partner for TruFusion, the all-star baseball player was a regular studio participant. His two-decade-long career forced the need to stay fit and the community studio atmosphere helping him achieve it. When he’s not publicizing the brand, he spends nearly three hours a day in class. He takes full advantage of its group fitness offerings, attending everything from heated bootcamp classes to Pilates. His favorite class? The Down N’ Dirty. An intense bootcamp combining yoga, Pilates, and kettlebells in a space heating up to above 100º.
And, of course, A-Rod’s international icon girlfriend Jennifer Lopez has joined in on the fun, oftentimes bringing her dance crew to take part as well. Will we see her in Seattle?
