The benefits of reformer Pilates are hard to ignore; the low-impact, toning, calorie-torching, balance-improving workout is gaining popularity around the country, and Vive Active is at the forefront of the movement.
After opening a studio at Brookvale’s Westfield Warringah Mall in 2017, Vive has dazzled with its amazing aesthetics and unrivalled experience — popular enough that it has now brought its ultimate total-body group fitness workout to Sydney’s East.
With a commitment to clients to make every class different, Vive promises to keep your body guessing with workouts designed to build strength and lean muscle fast.
It’s not just one thing that makes Vive revolutionary, and it starts with the fact that it doesn’t just offer a regular old reformer Pilates experience.
The studio alone is worth the hype. Be prepared to step into a luxe, boutique studio featuring mirrors on every wall (including the ceiling — no excuses for sloppy form now!), intense purple and blue lighting, and a concert-quality sound system to really get you in the mood (complete with some banging playlists from the superstar trainers). A clock at the front of the room counts down the time remaining in the class, and by those last five minutes, you’ll be gasping for air and dripping sweat all over your machine. Luckily, they provide towels.
The studios each host six different types of classes to ensure there’s something for absolutely everyone.
If you’re new, you go for VIVE INTRO, a free 20-minute instruction class prepping you to launch yourself into the harder workouts. From there, you’ve got options. VIVE STRETCH focusses on improving mobility and flexibility, as well as preventing injury and stress. VIVE CIRCUIT combines strength, HIIT, and stability training across various stations for the ultimate high-energy class.
Yet, Vive can turn up the temperature even more with a repertoire of three classes that test even the fittest of Sydneysiders. VIVE SLAY is also a circuit, but it involves two trainers instead of one to push you to your limits (and maybe even beyond). The signature, 50-minute VIVE TOTAL mashes together strength, endurance, and stretching, with full-body conditioning suited to every level of fitness. And VIVE COMBAT is the most challenging of all, splitting the class between the floor and the reformer, featuring tougher weights and springs, aiming to build up your strength ASAP.
If it seems intimidating, it isn’t (actually the opposite). The trainers are energetic, full of encouragement, and not afraid to push you through a challenge. Demonstrated best through their hallmark VIVE TOTAL class, they mix it up every time without fail and offer different levels of intensity throughout the classes to ensure everyone is being looked after.
And if you need some individual attention or want to boost your confidence before diving into the deep end in a group class, Vive also offers class exclusives and private training at their Northern Beaches and Double Bay studios. You can even book the whole studio out for parties and events — and with that lighting and sound system, it may be your best soirée yet.
It’s this kind of bespoke experience that’s uncommon for group fitness, but it’s personal to Vive Active, whose neon script sign is also their creed: “Long live you.”
