In our dream world, there is no difference between a weekday morning and a weekend one — because Saturdays and Sundays shouldn’t be the only days reserved for lounging with a cup of coffee before heading to a yoga studio. Clearly, we’re not the first to have this hope in Toronto; a new wellness studio in Roncesvalles is trying to make our dreams come true by bringing that calm, relaxed, and blissful vibe to every day of the week.
Any new “it” destination in Toronto knows combining a fitness studio with a healthy eating hub is the cool thing to do — just look at Sweat and Tonic killing it. Now, AM Coffee Studio is following in these trendy footsteps by merging a cafe hangout and drop-in yoga studio. Opened in November 2019, this one-stop wellness shop means no more trekking around the city feeling like you’ve been through the ringer before the day even starts.
A round neon sign hanging in the window marks the spot on Dundas Street West. Head inside and you’ll be greeted by a trendy coffee shop vibe, complete with cozy brick walls, industrial lighting, and lots of plants hanging around. The menu at the counter offers feel-good food and a long list of lattes and teas to keep you warm.
If you’ve just rolled out of bed, you’ll want to start your day with a cup of coffee made with imported Italian beans. Or, try a Superfood Matcha or Turmeric latte with a shot of espresso to really wake up. Breakfast is served here too, and you won’t want to miss it. There are chia parfaits topped with fruit and granola, granola bowls served with oat milk, and a Goddess Glow smoothie bowl made to match our millennial pink hearts.
And although it’s called AM Coffee Studio, there are plenty of PM-worthy snacks if you happen to come by in the afternoon. The vegan Winter Salad made with kale and curried butternut squash is our pick for a late lunch, while the avocado toast made with a seeded sourdough tastes good any time of day.
Once you finish your meal, take a walk through the rest of the cafe. You’ll find a whole other wellness experience waiting for you at the studio in the back of the building — yoga classes (available on ClassPass) are held here two to three times a week.
Join an all-levels morning flow on Thursdays to learn foundational poses for a strong practice; you’ll move through sun salutations and focus on alignment. There’s also an option for a more restorative flow on Monday evenings. This class is about holding those postures that help you unwind. Plus, every so often, AM Coffee Studio will introduce new types of classes, like Move + Meditate, where you can get your heart pumping and body fired up before cooling down with a little breathwork and visualization.
When yoga isn’t in session, the studio can be rented out for community events, for everything from coworking sessions to relationship workshops. Between the food, fitness, and these fun, buzzy pop-ups, we think you’ll be spending a lot of time here. Post-class coffee social? That’s what this concept is all about.
