One of the best food trends of late? The rise of the bowl. Yep, you read that right! Bowls aren’t just for breakfast cereal anymore. Lately, all kinds of dishes have been making the transition from formal fork-and-knife foods to scoopable snacks and we’re totally here for it.
Lucky for us, Uptown eatery Brim got the memo. Since opening its doors just across the street from Bde Maka Ska, Brim has been serving up delicious bowl-based meals that are equal parts healthy and fun to eat… not to mention completely customizable!
Here’s how it works: if you crave adventure or want to design your dish to meet your exact specifications, we recommend the custom bowl option. Simply choose your favorite base from a seasonally rotating menu of greens and grains (right now that includes options like quinoa and jade sticky rice with peas) and top with veggies (four words: slaw of the day!) and protein (there’s everything from veg-friendly options like beans and tempeh to carnivore faves like chicken and braised beef). Fancy it all up with garnishes and a house-made dressing and you’ve got yourself a meal!
Feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options? No stress! Brim also offers seven tried-and-true bowls like the Smokey Pulled Beef & Chipotle and the Thai Coconut Purple Potato. Wash it all down with a cold honey iced tea, green juice, or some suds from local breweries a la Surly, Able, Fulton, and Brauhaus.
Just in case peeking at Brim’s Instagram hasn’t convinced you to drop everything and head there ASAP (just peep that Molokai purple latte), we have one more point to make. You know all those ingredients we’ve been going on and on about? They’re largely locally-sourced, organic, and made from scratch.
In other words, you’re filling yourself up with food that is as good for you as it looks and tastes. And since you can mix-and-match ingredients to your heart’s content, it’s unlikely you’ll run out of options (or reasons to stop by Brim) any time soon!
