Mall of America is many things. One of the country’s largest malls and the state’s biggest tourist attractions? Check and check. Home of a bomb-ass indoor amusement park with a Spongebob-themed rollercoaster? Yep! A one-stop shop for all your shopping needs — albeit one with terrible parking? Mhmm. A foodie destination with plenty of options for every diet? Eh, not quite.

Slowly but surely, though, that’s starting to change, thanks, in part, to a burger joint that’s putting a healthy spin on a fast food favorite.

MEAT-FREE EATS

Okay, so get this: MOA has over 500+ stores, dozens of sit-down restaurants, and two whole food courts, but only five—yes, FIVE—vegan-friendly dining options. One of those five is a salad restaurant, another is a juicery. And while, yes, salad and juice are delicious, sometimes even the cleanest eating of vegans just wants some good, old-fashioned fast food.

Enter: Earth Burger, home of the plant-based burger that’s taking Bloomington by storm. The best part? This Texas-based company is entirely vegan.

ORDER UP!

Did we mention that literally everything on the menu has our mouths watering? There are eight entrées: the Spicy Chik-n Sandwich, Fishless Sandwich, Chik-n Tender Basket, BBQ Pulled Jackfruit, Grilled Chik-n Protein Wrap, Buffalo Chik-n Wrap, Roasted Quinoa Burger, and the namesake Earth Burger, which is essentially the vegan answer to the Big Mac. Make your meal a combo and add a drink (lemon berry acai soda, anyone?) and choice of sides like fries, edamame, apple slides, and kale salad.

But wait, there’s more! For dessert, try the coconut soft serve, a brownie, or a shake. Or all three — we won’t judge.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN

You can find Earth Burger’s MOA location on the third floor food court and, unsurprisingly, the reviews are glowing.

One diner even called it “easily the best vegan food” she’d ever had and so good it “makes me want to convert to plant-based eating”. Another reviewer spoke the truth by noting that, although simply being vegan doesn’t make something healthy, “If you’re craving comfort food that’s maybe slightly less bad for you and cruelty-free, then come on over and give it a shot!”

Well, that’s all the convincing we need! If you’re trying to find us, we’ll be at Mall of America ordering one of everything on the menu.
