It seems like everywhere we look lately we keep hearing about mindful living. We love the concept of staying present and making intentional choices (basically, finding inspiration on and off the mat). But sometimes it can feel like another item on our to-do list.
That’s where Wanderlust comes in. They’re all about building a community – boosting your heart and opening your mind (or vice versa). And they want you to be a part of it.
Wanderlust uses the idea of mindful living as a jumping-off point for you to live your best and truest life. The company’s mission includes a focus on things like yoga, healthy eating, and being green. Sounds awesome, right?
And Wanderlust spreads its messages in a few really cool ways. Our favorite way to experience Wanderlust is at one of its festivals. They host both one- and multi-day events all around the world, and they are life-changing.
The one-day fests are called Wanderlust 108, and they’ve been dubbed “the world’s only mindful triathlon.” But if you’re thinking swim/bike/run, think again. Wanderlust 108’s three “sports” are a 5K run/walk/skip whatever your heart desires, an invigorating yoga session, and a guided meditation. There’s also a market with organic food and handmade crafts. Plus, Wanderlust encourages you to get out of your comfort zone by trying a bonus activity like acroyoga or slacklining.
But for someone looking for even more mindful goodness, there are multi-day Wanderlust fests that bring you to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Think the beaches of Hawaii or the mountains of northern California (awful, we know).
At the multi-day Wanderlust fests, you’ll be able to take yoga and meditation classes that fit wherever you are in your practice. You’ll be encouraged to get active by exploring the area with hikes, runs, bike rides, and more. Then, learn from current thought leaders before refueling from it all with local and sustainable foods. Oh, and the whole fest is set to an incredible soundtrack of live music and DJ sets.
If you’re anything like us, you’ll never want to leave.
So what are you waiting for? Wanderlust always has events coming up, so check out the website to see what’s next. And if you can’t travel, maybe Wanderlust has a center in your city. Or you can always watch their videos online to get inspired right at home.
We’ll keep you up to date on all things health, fitness and local food in Pittsburgh.
