  • 🇦🇺 G’Day, Mate!

The District is turning into a sea of blue — the Australian-inspired coffee shop Bluestone Lane recently teased that two new locations are on the way! (If you’re keeping count, that makes cafe six and seven for the trendy chain.) For those that live in the Logan Circle area or near Metro Center, you’ll be sipping on flat whites and digging into an avo smash on sourdough before you know it. Bonus: we hear the downtown spot might have an outdoor patio!

  • 🚲 Clip In

Cycling sometimes gets a bad rap for being too exclusive. Luckily, CYCLED! is changing the way we ride with a “less cult, more community” focus in every 45-minute sweat session it offers. And now, they’re bringing the experience to Capitol Hill, with a new studio opening on January 25, 2020. Sign up for a class and help them break in those fresh bikes!

  • 🐔 Spring Chicken

Anyone looking for a fast-casual meal full of juicy grilled chicken knows they can trust Farm Bird, but the restaurant’s home on H St. isn’t always convenient. Luckily, they’re opening a more centrally-located second spot in Penn Quarter. Go here for plates of protein (they have tofu, too!) with yummy sauces, plus veggie sides, seasonal salads, and sandwiches filled with flavor.

  • 💪 Red Room Alert

Clarendon, let us introduce you to the “best workout in the world.” Cult HIIT studio Barry’s Bootcamp is opening its first Virginia location on January 25. You can expect the same signature cardio and strength workout you know and love, plus fully-equipped locker rooms (with Dyson hairdryers), and the well-known Barry’s Fuel Bar for post-sweat smoothies.

  • 🥊 It’s A Knockout

It’s time to get in the ring — Nuboxx officially opened its second location on U Street on January 18. The boxing studio will offer its signature classes that mimic professional training programs in two brand new sweat rooms, plus offer sessions in the open gym. Of course, there’s also the boxing ring, where you can put on your gloves and show off your one-two punch.

  • 🍚 Rice To Meet You!

Say hello to the newest poke bowl joint on the block — Hilo Poké & Sushi! The fast-casual eatery is now open in Lanier Hills, and alongside dishes piled high with crunchy onions and seaweed, expect to find a lineup of burritos, salads, and even special sushi rolls. Nothing on the menu quite suit your cravings? You can pretty much make anything you want here — just ask for a custom creation.

You may not be able to walk into the Sweetgreen on L Street NW anymore, but fear not, lettuce-lovers! Sweetgreen Capitol Hill is (finally!) back open and ready to serve you the veggie-packed, bowls of your dreams. Perfect timing, too, as we’ve heard a new seasonal menu is on the way any day now.

  • ✨ A Sneak Peak

It looks like our go-to for mouth-watering hummus bowls and pita sandwiches, Little Sesame, is wasting no time in setting intentions for the new year. The Mediterranean-inspired, fast-casual spot recently shared a photo on Insta asking where you’d love to see them expand to in 2020. Our answer? Everywhere! Stay tuned for more details as we get them.

  • 🌴 Island Vibes

It may be winter, but we’re channeling the tropical paradise of Hawaii with the opening of PokeHub’s first DC proper location in Franklin Square. This new go-to for a quick and easy lunch makes their sauces in-house and promises only the freshest seafood. Not only that, with so many delicious combos, including classic poke bowls, vegetarian dishes, and sushi burritos, you could stop by every day for a year and never eat the same thing twice.

  • ❄️ Brain Freeze

The cold weather can’t stop us from craving smoothies — especially when there are festive flavors full of warm spices. Pop into any Juice Press and try one of the new holiday shakes, like the Gingersnap Cookie (with 24g of protein) or the Peppermint Mocha. Or, head to HipCityVeg and ask for a vegan Merry Mint Chocolate shake to go with that Grilled Disco Chick’n sammie.

  • 🌮 And... They’re Back

Love Christmas but need some tropical vibes to make it through the winter? Well, we’ve got some good news — after a little downtime, Jaco Juice & Taco Bar is back up and running in Georgetown. If you’ve never been before, order one (or three!) of the Baco Taco, made with chunky guac and caramelized onions, and channel summer with a Spinach Colada, a health-ified version of the beachy beverage.
