Just when we thought the DC fitness scene had its peak, we were proved wrong by the announcement of BYNDfit — a fitness hall featuring everything you love about a boutique studio scene combined with the ease and flexibility of a gym. Think food hall, but for fitness. Sound like one of the coolest concepts you’ve heard of in a while? Same, and we've got all the need-to-know details.
Coming to Chinatown in 2020, BYNDfit will be an all-in-one spot for working out. Five studios will offer over 150 classes, including cardio killer The Trip, strength training session Kettlebell Power, and relaxing Beyond Stretch. As fitness trends change, the schedule will, too, so you’ll always have the latest obsession on tap. And that just might mean your classes aren’t always taught in-person.
Tech-driven workouts will play a huge role in enabling BYNDfit to offer so much variety. There will be an immersive cycling theatre and tons of pre-scheduled, on-demand workouts — all you have to do is press play to project a digital class where you can follow along. But what we’re truly amazed by is this innovative option: virtual reality workouts. You’ll put on a headset and be transported to an alternate fitness world!
And if that wasn’t enough, BYNDfit will also house a traditional gym featuring all sorts of high-tech upgrades and equipment. We’re talking machines that track your workout so you don’t have to and so much more.
This hall knows the fitness experience goes beyond your sweat sesh. That’s why they’re set on making sure you’ll be taken care of from the moment you decide to join.
Although we haven’t heard of a drop-in options yet, we do know you'll be able to sign up for a monthly membership that will give you access to everything it offers — and that’s a lot. You’ll be able to schedule face-time with some of the top personal trainers in the District, relax and detox in the infrared saunas, and take advantage of the luxury locker rooms full of all the post-sweat products you need (there will even be Dyson hairdryers !). Oh, and there are also plans for an on-site juice and smoothie bar where you can go to refuel before or after your workout.
Trust us — once BYNDfit finally arrives, you’re never going to want to leave this place. You won’t have to wait much longer to check it out, either. Expect a soft launch in November 2019, and the grand opening in early 2020.
